Pretzels are a must, especially with the Berry Sauce. Great beer and food. Wonderful tasting Ginger Beer and good alchohol free house made beer. Beers are very clean tasting. Kitchen is spotless and smells amazing. Limited selection of teas and no matcha, but it is a brewery and hangout not a tea house. The space is very relaxing and will likely foster relationships and happiness. Outdoor seating area is an outstanding example of design and lighting. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge since the business is located within a neighborhood. Waldmann is the perfect place for a calm date, especially if you appreciate history. Service was professional and timely. Sitting in the small side room and laughing by the small woodburning stove is hard to beat on a cold evening. Trust me, the place is very interesting and cool.

Authentic and absolutely delicious! We enjoyed every bite from the soft pretzel, wursts, spaetzle, red cabbage, potatoes, chopped salad and the delectable strudel. Can’t forget those beers either! I loved the cozy feeling of the restaurant as I sat next to wood stove and looked out the window while the snow came down. Our server was friendly and attentive too. Definitely a 10/10 experience and we can’t wait to return.

Careful, this is a review by a German (yes, real, not by heritage), and we can be pretty harsh. Second time I've been here. The food overall is very good, has something for every palette, e.g. Burgers and salads. I had the Wurst Plate, substituted Spätzle for the mashed potatoes. That's a side of Spätzle. But hey. I get it. I'll pay for being extra. The Spätzle (or rather Knöpfle) are fire and real!! Compliments to the chef. Can't get much better. And it's easy to screw them up. I've also ordered a side of mushroom gravy for my Spätzle, and the gravy was on point!! The curry brat I ordered tasted somehow off. Not as in old or bad, but not really tasty like a good German brat. I recommend talking to the butcher. If you want an actual Currywurst, you'll need a fine white brat for that, not the coarse one with some curry in it. The Blaukraut (red cabagge) was ice cold. A warm platter should have also warm Blaukraut. Please don't serve it cold. The Doppelbock I had with the meal was very good, even though it was a tad too sweet for my taste. But hey, it's okay for a Doppelbock to be sweet. So in summary, minus one star for the not so tasty sausage and the cold red cabbage.

This establishment is an exceptional example of everything being done pretty much perfectly in my minds eye. The beer is wonderful departure compared the vast majority of today's dominant Minneapolis and St Paul breweries. Hop heads and hard IPA aficionados need not apply. The traditional perspective on German beer making very much offers you an experience that few if any can match in the Twin City area. Fans of lagers and pilsners should very much enjoy this experience. This is not a quantity over quality establishment. The appetizers entrees and accoutrements are all cleverly crafted and of reasonable portion. Pickled vegetables and cheeses at your fingertips, yess please. In essence, this is a time machine that transports you into something that feels much more like a pub or ale house in Europe, as it should. It does not feel hokey or cheesy in any way, unless you get the cheese board. Which I suggest you do. Having recently reviewed Mancini's in regards to a date location, if your date is an individual who may be described as on the more creative or eccentric side. This is absolutely the place to go versus a chop House with relatively standard fare. As such I rate this establishment a 4.5 out of 5 stars for the complexity of the establishment. From the beer to the menu to the especially the high level of execution regarding all aspects of thier offerings. Give it a shot see what you think.
