Tony , my husband visited your resturant while a student & has continued to this day. My first dining experience was there just prior to marriage 38 yrs ago. Well I am thoroughly disgusted with the way Tony's decided to end an era. Set up a reservation back on Friday for tonight.. actually tried calling all day today (11/12/2/2:30pm) to just place our order ahead and no answer and hung up on. So we headed out early and we just waited for the doors to unlock... Sat down immediately and never saw the server. We never got our order taken. Of course tables slammed in when the doors unlocked so I stood in the Togo line to just place our order and the manager made me step out of line to wait for our server. After an hour of waiting our order was FINALLY taken. Prepared to wait longer we ended up waiting another 2 hours just to find out that our order was not even in the oven yet. They had stopped taking orders and basically ran out of food. While I am thrilled that the community came together to give them a final goodbye...I am thoroughly disgusted with the way things ran tonight. Dine in had absolutely no priority and they just continued to take carry out orders to the point they lost control of the kitchen... Dine in was not allowed to just place as a to-go order we were forced out of line and made to wait on the understaffed / over slammed servers. Let's face it Servers and all of Dine-in got screwed tonight. They had no business opening for dining tonight, or carryout orders should have been paused long enough for the dine in orders to get caught up. After a 3 hour wait the manager decided to accuse me of "intimidation" when all I asked was where our food was after we watched all the carry-outs that came in long after us grab and go with their orders... At this point why am I beating a dead horse? The management. That attitude was deplorable and tonight could have been handled better. (Personally I'm truly shocked those servers didn't just walk out... They got the worst end of the deal tonight and stuck through so I hope you all tipped your servers still) But alas my grandfather has been a regular there longer than I've been born so I just wanted to make sure he got a goodbye pie-and he did. I hope the rest of the patrons tonight got their last fill of nostalgia and left with a less tainted experience. Personally Goodbye, & Good Riddance. Please retire and enjoy it. Wished this had a happier ending. I have no desire to support whatever business that drove out this classic (regardless of if it appealed to me or the generations before me) and I truly hope we come together better and stand stronger for the businesses that made Valpo special.

Got the last "Tony's Place" take & bake deep dish pizza in town! Will miss this historic restaurant... Gonna cook & enjoy my last pizza this weekend. Got extra vintage t-shirts as well. Dont be jealous lol Vegetarian options: Plenty Kid-friendliness: Great for kids partys

This place is the best, our favorite Friday night date night we don’t miss it unless we’re out of town and when we’re out of town and we’re on our way home we stop there before we even go home It’s where everybody knows our name. Tony’s, Anthony, Tammi ( the best) Kristi, Gloria, Christina Michelle our favorite waitresses Donna, Pilar, Rita, Don. The food is the best Italian food and we are Italian’s. Alessi is our name. We are very very picky about our Italian food. My favorites are chicken Roma and fish Roma and eggplant Parmesan. everything is delicious! The pizza is the bomb! Our family has been coming there for 28 years. We will sorely miss this restaurant. I can’t even imagine where we’re going to find a place for Friday night date night and not only Friday nights. last week we were there three times. we love you Tony’s and our family loves you. You have been such a blessing to us. You’ve been our peaceful solace away from the stresses of life. We’ve. always felt such a warm welcome. Love you all! Owner, Manager. My best friend and I have fond memories at Tony's with our parents growing up. It's the only place in Valpo that brings us back to those childhood moments because nothing has changed. Whether Tony's remains opened or decides to close, I'd like to thank them for allowing me to embrace my childhood memories there everytime I visit and let Tony and the staff know how grateful I am for their hospitality, good food and good memories.
