I want anyone reading this to understand how serious and sincere this review is. I was treated very poorly by the security which was openly homophobic, aggressive and condescending. I’m sure the owner of the establishment truly welcomes and values all patrons. But the men he or she has chosen to ensure safety are abusive and disrespectful. My friend and I were smoking and rather than merely being informed that the establishment doesn’t allow smoking the security guard forcibly took the blunt a put it out, making aggressive physical contact with me and making me for may safety. Rather than listening to what I had to say the guard’s boss escorted my friends and I out for no reason whatsoever and attempted to patronize us with unsatisfactory explanations for why we had to leave when the situation was initiated by his unprofessional and homophobic subordinate. I would those currently patronizing this establishment to stop immediately, and for those who choose to continue to do so to be very careful.
There for an event. Great environment
Only one gripe —the music is loud. Hard to speak to the person/people you came with; just as hard for the bartenders to hear your order. Kitchen closes at midnight.
We visited this spot for some drinks and hookah, and we quite enjoyed it. However, it was extremely crowded and bustling, making it a lively hangout spot with friends. Yet, if you seek a quiet place for a chat, this isn't the ideal spot due to the loud atmosphere during the early evening hours. The hookah was decent but not exceptional, probably a three out of five for a hookah enthusiast like me. The service was understandably busy, so they couldn't be attentive all the time. Nevertheless, the ambiance exuded immense joy and liveliness, making it a delightful place to socialize with friends.
This is a two-story black owned restaurant bar. The food and service are extraordinary for the relative price.
We were excited to experience the essence of this new spot. The energy, music, and people were lovely. Everything was exciting until we ordered Hookah. The first round went well, then we ordered a replacement with fresh shisha & coals. Unfortunately whatever they used took my friend out. He literally lost consciousness and couldn’t be revived until he was taken outside. Although the staff were very helpful and attentive, the experience my friend went through was traumatic. For the hookah enthusiast, please be careful.
Nice evening out with friends at Thurst!
