Went recently to celebrate my 60th birthday. Enjoyable meal, friendly service.
I’ve visited this pub three times now and have stayed overnight twice. The menu is fabulous and the pub is beautiful - cosy and romantic. The rooms are clean, well decorated and the beds comfortable. Where could things be better? The breakfast used to be the best I’d ever eaten… black pudding, well cooked, generous portion etc. It’s still good but it’s not what it once was. The rooms can be quite loud - door alarms going off, noisy neighbours etc. However, I’m nit picking, it’s still one of my fave pubs and places to stay.
Very overpriced! Appreciate that they need to make a profit, but even taking this into consideration, the menu was a disappointment. A family of five, at lunchtime on Saturday, we all ordered mains from the menu. When our plates arrived, they were so scant that we expected dishes of vegetables would be served as an accompaniment. This didn't happen. Five people left feeling hungry and disappointed including two teenage boys, one of whom had ordered a side order of chips. My husband and I last visited before lockdown, and having then been impressed, were looking for somewhere to celebrate two family birthdays. The final cost of the menu and the fact that everyone left hungry, left us feeling embarrassed, Unfortunately we won't be returning!
I was really looking forward to my 1st visit, especially after hearing they had recently been voted local pub of the year. The staff were great, but the food was nothing special, not great at all to be honest and then to be expected to pay a 10% service charge, was like rubbing salt into the wound. Definitely overrated we will not be returning.
We stayed 1 night as we played at JCB Golf course. Really great little pub with great restaurant and equally good hotel rooms, all with Bamford Spa products
Amazing place . Warm dining room and great food. They are very polite and kind I had such a nice experience
Lovely meal and atmosphere
