Sushi AOI

While the service and atmosphere are good, the food was not great. The fish was high quality, but the rice was overly sweet and didn't have the "smoothness", both textural and flavor-wise, that sushi rice should have. It ruined the sake don I ordered by clashing unpleasantly with the otherwise quality salmon. Synergy problems extend to the sushi as well, with the AOI roll being a prime example. The crab stick and avocado were low quality, and created a flavor and textural gap between it and the tuna, resulting in a subpar roll despite good fish. Overall, would not recommend.

I was craving sushi during my work trip and this place hit the spot. Would recommend.

It is my favorite sushi restaurant in DC. The sushi is fresh and delicious. They also have other items on the menu if you prefer a meal. Service is always top notch. I opt to sit outside during the warmer months in DC, with a glass of white wine or a cold Sapporo beer. The after work crowd come in the evenings. Prices are reasonable.

The gyoza were tasty. Too much rice and too little shrimp in the rolls though. Staff are nice, but a bit slow.

Our waiter was very personable and friendly. We had a large group but he kept up and took time to smile and laugh with us. 100% recommended

Everything is tasty and well presented, excellent service.. great location. I definitely recommend.
