I gave Red Olive Restaurant in Plymouth on 5 mile another try. To say I was totally insulted and speechless is an understatement. Prior to today, I had visited this establishment twice, ordered the Farmers Omelet, and the hash browns and ham were burned. Today, I ordered carry out; asked the order taker to ask cooking staff to not over cook (burn) the hash browns and ham; make it "light" in color. My order came back with the hash-browns 'burned' both as a side order and in the omelet. I asked the server 'Jen' to redo the order. She was clearly unhappy. She returned 10 minutes with the new order -- telling me "if this omelet is not right, we'll give you a refund. We can't keep remaking your food. I did not have a chance to check the order. I replied "the hashbrowns were burned". - she replied "the grill is very hot; we have cook the ham; I said, wait... your saying you cannot make the order right, not burned, and if I don't like it, get a refund and go elsewhere. I am not new in the kitchen; nor working in restaurants in my younger years. I worked at some of the top premium restaurants (sadly gone) Steak & Ale; Bill Knapps, Golden Mushroom (5 star restaurant) and of course, Pizza Hut. So, what this server Jen was telling me... if I don't like my food burned, I should take the refund because customer service is not their thing. And my recommendation here is 1: get a different cook; 2. move the food to the lesser hot portion of the grill; 3. get out of the restaurant business. And, the food was made right on the 2nd try. But why go through all this drama? They lost my business. I'll eat at home... I know burned when I make it (lol).
Had the gyro Supreme, fries and coke. Decent, quick food at a good price. Excellent service! Good job Mikaila!
