Peter Chang

This is by far the best Chinese food I’ve had in the DMV. I enjoyed the atmosphere and felt like I was amongst family. All of the staff were genuinely nice and encouraged asking any questions and making sure we were comfortable. The food came out hot and fresh and the portions were more than enough for the price points. I have a gluten allergy and was pleasantly surprised that they could make a vast majority of their items gluten free. I had no complaints and will definitely be back.

So sad to be leaving a poor review but had a really disappointing experience here tonight. We went to Peter Chang for my husband’s birthday as we’d been once before and absolutely loved it. I don’t know what was happening tonight but it was really disappointing. I made note that it was a birthday when I made the reservation (it specifically asked about occasion) but no one noted it or did anything to mark the occasion. I don’t necessarily expect that from a restaurant but if they ask I do expect at least a “happy birthday” as part of service. We ordered three entrees, an appetizer, two sides of rice, and two beers and things came out in a very confusing order. We first received two of our entrees, then finally our beers, then the sides of rice, then finally our appetizer. The rice was really badly overcooked and mushy. One of the entrees was fantastic (the crispy fish in black bean sauce) but the braised lamb flap was so tough we could barely eat it. It seemed boiled, not braised. We felt rushed out and were only there for about 30 minutes altogether. I left feeling really bummed because it was a fairly pricey meal and didn’t end up feeling special for a special occasion. Not trying to be nasty - just giving feedback in the hopes that they can figure out what was going on so that they can provide better experiences for others in the future. We really loved our first time here and wish that we had a similar experience tonight.

I have never had a miss here at Peter Chang. Best soup dumplings around. Bartenders are always so friendly providing great service. Lots of yummy mocktail options.

I’ve been eating here several times, it never disappoints me. Every dish has its own unique flavor and they all delicious. Don’t skip the small dishes on the menu, they are flavorful and tasty. The environment and service are great as well. Best choice to bring friends for authentic Chinese food in Columbia/Baltimore area.

Decent food. Nothing special. I did not enjoy the Cumin Lamb shank despite it being recommended in other reviews. We also had the scallion pancake, shrimp & pork spicy appetizer, and my husband had the kung pao chicken which he thought was pretty good. Both appetizers could’ve been better. We shared egg fried rice which was delicious. The portions on entrees are large and shareable. I wish we would’ve ordered more food but overall I didn’t love what I did try. However, the service was really good. Super friendly staff. I ordered a margarita and French martini. I do recommend their drinks. We went on a Friday around 6:30 and had to wait 30 mins which is to be expected.
