Went for happy hour. The chicken parmesan sliders were awesome.
The atmosphere and service, despite them being absolutely full, keep them at a 4. We were surprised that the food was mediocre, especially for the price we paid. The ambiance and location were so fun though, we enjoyed our dinner thoroughly.
My fiance changed her mind last minute from sushi to Italian. So we took the trolley all the way down King Street and came to Mia's. Apparently we should of had a reservation on a Monday night, but we were invited to head to the bar or high tops as they served full menu and were first come first serve. We grabbed a seat at the bar and went to town on the menu. We started with the pane al formaggio (garlic cheese bread), very good. A different take on the typical fare. Soft chewy bread with a plethora of cheese. I ordered the diavola pizza, it was spicy and the honey was a wonderful touch. The crust was chewy, similar to the appetizer which didn't hide the texture of the peppers like a crunchy crust would have, well thought out recipe all around. My fiance ordered the chicken parmesan. The rigatoni was slightly spicy, not near the diavola pizza, but just enough for good flavor. The chicken parmesan was nice and juicy with perfect amount of sauce and cheese on top. The chicken was also bigger than expected. Despite all the food we had to try dessert since it was vacation. The cannoli was sublime with the candied orange peel really setting it apart. Just decadent. My fiance said the tiramisu cream was lighter than what she was used to and it was a good change, I'm not sure how we walked out of there being so full. Next time we visit the East Coast we will definitely be back.
This is the best Italian food I've had in a very long time! My wife and I decided to come back to Alexandria again after around here on our last driving trip to Florida, and we decided to try Mia's. It couldn't have been better. The Minestrone soup, garlic bread, and shrimp fra diavolo were all FABULOUS! We will definitely be back. Well, we came back and it's just as good the 2nd time! Our server Leslie was fabulous!
Normally I love Mia’s but the host tonight was extremely rude and unhelpful.
We dived in for a quick HH and some snacks to bite on. The cocktails were delicious and the food was amazing. We tried the cacio e pepe arancini balls - a must try and the Margherita pizza. Both were delicious and a great place to hang out and eat some good Italian food. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options from appetizers to entrees.
Delicious hommade pasta and tiramisu. Split the lasagna and it was excellent. The garlic bread was good but didn't end up using most of the garlic spread.
