Really great food and wine in San Carlos. We originally wanted to go to Blueline, but they were closing at 8:00pm and it was already past 7, and it didn’t look very busy. Doppio Zero looked very inviting and was decently busy for a Wednesday night. We got to sit in a cozy corner booth. It took a while for our server to get to us which we didn’t mind but service wasn’t super quick. We ordered the pear salad, very tasty arugula with pear, feta and pepitas and was enough for 3 to share. The fungo pizza was delicious with a crispy thin crust and great flavor. The short rib fettuccini was very rich and perfectly al dente. Finally, the panna cotta for dessert was smooth and creamy. The blueberries were ok, a little chewy but overall a great dessert. Would love to come back here!
A great addition to downtown San Carlos. The setting is open and light-filled, which is a nice change from the dark and cavernous restaurants that seem to dominate Laurel St. The cocktails are creative and food has been consistently good.
The hostess is great servers are great too! Very loud atmosphere for a restaurant but I’m glad seeing a place so busy these days. Dough is fantastic. Toppings it’s a hit or a miss in my opinion. What I took starts off is their dish which is call “smoked trout” which is in fact smoked salmon. I don’t understand why you would even serve this? But this is just insulting to your diner’s intelligence not knowing the difference between trout and salmon. That’s what ruined it for me.
I haven't been back to Doppio in a very long time but this recent visit did not disappoint. It was a Saturday night but surprisingly dining in was met with ease. The restaurant was bustling but plenty of seats to accommodate. We ordered: - Burrata - anytime burrata is on the menu, you can bet I will be ordering it! This one did not disappoint with the perfect compliment of truffle honey, hazelnuts, toasted bread and arugula. A definite repeat item. Honestly, this alone could serve as a dish for one depending on how hungry you are. - Marechiaro - squid ink pasta? bet! I will always get this too if it's on the menu. One thing to point out, the ink is in the pasta and it's not a squid ink sauce. I like it both ways, and this one was a good one. It's more of a frutti di mare with a tagliolini pasta. Nice chunky pieces of scallops and flavorful clams. - La Carne pizza - it wasn't "too" meaty as I thought it might be. It was a perfect balance of chorizo and Italian sausage. It had a smokey flavor along with the perfect chewiness of the crust. - Kids Pizza - $10 for a nice sized cheese pizza shaped like Mickey Mouse. My kids were happy with this. - Kids Penne Alfredo - $10 for a Penne Alfredo which was also enjoyed. It had a hint of truffle in the sauce and my kid loved it. Ambience can be loud as it's great for groups, but also looked to be a popular date night spot. And I'm always grateful for family friendly type restaurants as well. Overall, very happy to have returned to Doppio and will have to stop in again soon
Good piiza, pasta dishes, but loud/energetic inside.
Love the service and the food!
