Disappointed to say the least….when you are greeted at the door, you are immediately asked if you have a reservation, and if you don’t, they tell you it’s really hard to get people in without a reservation. Not even 10 minutes later, a table opened. The prices are way too high for the portions and quality of food. We were told that entrees were huge shareable platters. This was absolutely not the case and a small bowl of pad Thai with 3 slices of brisket costs $30. The food quality has gone down significantly and is soaked in grease. Overall - overpriced and food was subpar. Our server was great but that is the only positive thing I can say about this place. NOT worth it and do not recommend.
Had a quick lunch at Buck Tui today. The Fat Bird sandwich was amazing. Great flavor! I will be back.
Great concept at first glance, but overpriced relative to getting Thai food or BBQ elsewhere.
When the food is good, it’s good, however it’s way too inconsistent. Service has never been good, which is the bigger issue here. Food is hit and miss. We really loved coming here last summer, but it started to seem like the food was declining. Serving staff is always inattentive at lunch time and is more focused on speaking to each other / act as though they forget they have 2-3 tables. There was one time that we made dinner reservations and were seated right under a leak dripping from the ceiling. (They literally had a cup sitting on our table catching the drip.) We asked to move and they acted very annoyed with us while there was some back and forth over who was going to serve us. I get waiters have sections, but why would you seat someone under a ceiling leak? We were here a few months ago and got served raw pork ribs as an appetizer. When we brought it to the waitresses attention, she told us it wasn’t raw, it was smoked, so it was going to be pink. We chose not to eat it anyway. Thankfully, because to her credit, she did come back at the end of our meal and inform us that she was corrected and they actually aren’t smoked and it was raw. That turned us off for a bit, however Saturday we decided to give it another go. Walked in a little after 12pm and were seated right away as it wasn’t too busy. We sat at our table for a full 8 minutes without any acknowledgment, or even a water, as both waiter/waitress made eye contact with us several times and cleaned/served their respective tables. We even watched a couple that came in after us get their order taken. We finally just got up and walked out. The hostess who had seated us 8 minutes prior cheerfully said goodbye and didn’t even realize we were the same people who just walked in.
First time visitors of Buck Tui BBQ, and we were not disappointed. Food was great, the server was nice and answered all of our questions. Try the wontons, they were delicious.
