Antoine's Restaurant

Food was good, but can't say great. Historic atmosphere and absolutely WONDERFUL wait staff. Will go again for sure.

We were walking past and the bartender called out to welcome us to come in. It was enticing. She told us to walk around and check out all the history. The place is like the coolest museum. We then stopped at the bar and had some appetizers and drinks. Everything was amazing. It was a great experience. The bartender talked to us and told us some cool stories. It was just great.

Our anticipation was high as we entered the restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, but unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a rather indifferent lady, not very hospitable at all. We thanked her for sitting us, and her response of "sure" left much to be desired in terms of hospitality. We are not really sure why she had that attitude. Maybe because we were dressed casually and had our backpacks with us, as this was our last meal in New Orleans before flying back home. (?) Our two servers were initially attentive. We ordered the escargot as a starter which failed to impress. Our main courses—the Eggs Sardou, Louisiana Seafood Omelet and Pain Perdu with Smoked Bacon—lacked the flavor we had hoped for. The Brabant Potatoes we not season at all, not even with a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor. No one checked on us. We attempted to flag down our waiters but they seemed oblivious to our needs throughout the meal. We finally got their attention. They brought salt and pepper to the table, but completely forgot about the hot sauce we had asked for. We expressed our disappointment to our waiter, and paid for everything we ordered, even when we left a big part of it untouched. Both my partner and I have been in the restaurant industry for 20+ years, and we tend to be flexible when situations like this happen, but there was not one thing we enjoyed about Antoine’s.

Food was ok, nothing I would call excellent. Service was pretty good.

Absolutely ABYSMAL service! We have been dining there for 50 years and this was soooo unusual… We walked in at 5:40 for a 5:45pm reservation. The hostess did not smile, did not welcome us. Just asked our name. We were seated and the servers helpers took our drink order after we sat there for 15 minutes. When the helpers brought the French bread and drinks, they asked if we wanted any appetizers. We ordered Escargot, Oysters Rockefeller, and French Onion soup. Again, the helpers brought the appetizers. Once we finished the appetizers, an employee came by and picked up our dirty plates (unbeknownst to us, that was to be our server, Letisha). A table of ~8 was seated behind us and the same server came out, welcomed them, asked if they had ever been to Antoine’s, and preceded to tell the history of the restaurant. Then, she chit chatted for a minute or two. 25 MINUTES AFTER WE WERE SEATED, and after warmly greeting the table behind us, the server (Letisha) came to our table and asked if we were ready for entrees. She NEVER introduced herself, she NEVER welcomed us, she NEVER asked if we had been there before, she NEVER asked if we had questions about the menu. NOTHING! She asked if everything was good so far, and I said, “Not really. I think we’re going to pay and go.” She never asked a single question and didn’t say a word. Just left the table and came back with a check and laid it on the table. At this point, my husband and I were so shocked and disappointed in our experience that my husband took the check, with his credit card, and walked up to the manager and told him what an inexcusable experience we had had. To the credit of the manager, he took care of the bill and we left the restaurant. We went to The Omni Hotel Rib Room and had a fabulous dinner with excellent service.

My wife and I had an excellent dinner in their main dining room tonight. Our two servers were very attentive and friendly, and the food was great. Here is what we ordered: Starters 1) Charbroiled Oysters 2) Day Boat Scallops Entrees 3) Classic Fish Amandine w/Crabmeat 4) Lambchops w/Port Demi Glace Dessert 5) Classic Crème Brulee Drinks 6) Les L'egendes Bordeaux Rouge '20 7) Vieux Carré Everything was very good, but the oysters really stood out for me. I could have eaten 5 plates full and just called it a night! Overall, a great night and a very enjoyable meal. Fun fact: Antoine's allegedly has the second largest wine cellar in the United States second only to Disney World. If you ask for the wine menu you'll see there's a table of contents!

Historic venue with great food. Service was spot on. Brunch included a band and all you could drink mimosas. Definitely worth a visit and a repeat.

Delicious, but a bit too expensive compared to other fabulous restaurants I’ve been to around the country.
