I just left Zoe's Java House where I was humiliated by the woman behind the counter for not placing my used dishes in the right spot. I sat them down while reaching for a napkin, she leaned over the counter to tell me not to leave them there. I attempted to pass them to her as she was leaning over the counter at the time, but she refused to take them. Instead she pointed to another shelf and told me to put them. I apologized and walked to where she was pointing. I once again put the plate down to dispose of the waste into the bin beside this shelf. She came towards me to tell me, no, not there. At which point I dropped the plate and cup unto the shelf, and said 'Do it yourself!' She replied 'I guess you can't read, huh.' As you can see there's no issue with my literacy. I don't expect to bus my own tables unless it's a fast food establishment, even at some of those my food is delivered to my table, it's not put someplace for me to pick up if my name is called. My returning my used dishes was a courtesy, a word you obviously are not familiar with. I don't work there, I pay to be served food not to be directed on how you want me to bus my table. Be thankful for my anti- confrontational personality, if I had given into the impulse I had at that moment, it would have ended very differently.
Got a flat white, iced chai latte and cherry chocolate cheesecake and none of it was good and pretty expensive for quality.
Busy little coffee shop, but quick to serve. Nice sized sandwiches, very fresh.
Zoe’s is a cozy, but roomy, spot to have a coffee in PG. My cappuccino was good and the baking is fresh. It would be 4 stars but took one star off for this… I asked for a smoothie and whether I could have some vegetables blended in with it. They told me they didn’t have any - which was not true as we saw a bag of spinach in the front display fridge. My guess is that their smoothie proportions are so precise that they have no flexibility in customizing, even by a handful of spinach ♀️ Other than that, Zoe’s is clean, spacious yet quaint, and has decent food and coffee. (I didn’t check out the washroom.)
Zoe's cannot seem to get making a latte right. Way too much espresso that is too hot and burnt and next to no milk. With my tip it came to $8.71 for a latte that I poured down the drain. This was not my first latte that I have tossed but I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt as they are a coffee house. Save your money and go to Ritual if you'd like a proper latte with the correct ratio of espresso to steamed milk.
I love Zoe's Their Turkey sandwich is great.
