Very casual dining at a bit of an upscale price. Food- Pretty fantastic, except some of my rice was hard/uncooked. Our meals were served in melamine pasta bowls. The calamari was the biggest I've ever seen in my life and it was great! Atmosphere- Much more casual than I expected. Not really a place for a romantic type date. No music playing and it was kinda loud in there, like you could literally hear everyone else's conversations. Service- Our waitress was nice, very attentive, but in general the servers were way more casually dressed than I expected. There's no uniform, I guess they're just supposed to wear mostly black. I hate to say it, but some of them just looked plain sloppy. :-/ Drinks- We only tried one. We thought we'd just share one of their signature drinks, but it was pretty much straight bourbon and neither of us could drink it. The description said it had nutmeg molasses and dirty cherries, but there were definitely no cherries and not a bit of a flavor of nutmeg or molasses. There was a 'singed orange peel' but it looked like all the zest was removed and it was just the white part with a burn spot. The food was delicious and is the only redeeming quality of this restaurant. If you're looking for a place with the whole package -- great food, atmosphere, service, and drinks-- this probably wouldn't be my first suggestion.
Absolutely one of the best
As much as I HATE the owner of this place! There is a review for a MONDAY they are closed on Monday ♀️
Yellowfin is a great place to grab some surf ‘n’ turf. The staff were very kind and polite. The food was very well prepared. The Bruschetta Dip, NY Strip, and Shrimp Scampi were all bangers! This place would be suitable for a night out with friends, the family, a date, or to impress your in-laws without breaking the bank. Thank you, Yellowfin!
Ordered the salmon, it was very well prepared and delicious. Spicy shrimp appetizer was a great choice. Vegetarian options: Mushrooms were Devine.
Great food, atmosphere and menu. Loving downtown Gainesville!!!
