Second time trying this place. First time it was a busy Saturday morning so gave the benefit of the doubt for slow service and subpar products. Second time got the biscoff cannolis and butter pecan tarts. The cannolis were soggy. The pecan tarts were also not fresh. In this case, no matter what time of the day I go to La Rose Bakery, it’s always fresh.
It’s also expensive and not worth it in my opinion.
The cookie butter croffle I got was too bland. It was as if I was eating a plain croffle. They didn’t add enough of the toppings/flavour which was a waste of getting it. The texture and flakiness was great though.
The brownie tasted really good, but it was burnt at the bottom. The pastel de nata tasted great too, but it was also burnt all around the side of the pastry. It was also stale.
The cinnamon bun was way too sugary, one small bite was more than enough. I couldn’t finish it before it would get bad. I didn’t taste any cinnamon unfortunately either.
The Malassada donut was awesome, so fresh and the work on the dough, I could tell the quality was better than other donut places. The cannoli was okay, but it needed a bit more of sugar for it to be perfect.
I hope they make those needed changes because I think they have plenty of potential to become a bakery I would crave to get pastries from.
I have very mixed feelings about this place. Both croissants were over baked and lacked the flakey, buttery texture you expect. The eclair was tasty, but completely frozen. The iced latte and hot vanilla latte tasted like they were made from instant coffee; very watery, weak, no flavour, and no vanilla was added to the drinks. I wanted to like this place so badly because it’s so cute and local to me, but I wouldn’t recommend.
I tried their plain croissants, pistachios croissants and coconut rings cake. They are freshly baked but I felt the croissants are undercooked. Also itself not flaky, tastes more like a bread/bun. The coconut ring cake was good though, it was moist and light sweet.
the desserts are mostly a miss but definitely avoid the coffee.
I would rate this place in minus if I could. The staff was very unfriendly and had an attitude.I asked for an iced lattee sweetened and the lady straight up just added auger and didn’t even mix it properly. So when I drank it the sugar crystals were just coming in my mouth. I don’t work at a coffee shop and even I know you add sugar to hot espresso first to mix it and then I asked the lady to add syrup to make it sweet and she charged me extra. I had to wait in the line for 25 mins for this GARBAGE!
The prices could be a bit cheaper. And the pastries could have more flavor.
