Executive course is nice to practice. The range is showing its age but it’s not too bad.

I’m by no means a golf expert but I found the greens to be a bit poorly maintained. A lot of dried up patches and sharp rocks. I just played a round with my friend Herbie and he is more of an expert and he agreed with me. Although location can be nice views in some weather.

This is a wonderful / scenic golf course, but the suggested 4.5 hours to complete a round is unrealistic. If you're lucky, you can do this on a good day on an average 18 hole course. But at Westwood, there is a fair amount of commuting in between each hole. Even though Power Carts are supplied, you can't drive everywhere with them. Oftentimes one must stick to the cart path and park a fair distance away from the green or the approach area and then walk back and forth. On average, one would walk about five or six miles at a regular 18-hole course. When I last played Westwood, my golf watch odometer registered 12.3 miles in total distance covered. Meanwhile, the GPS screen on the cart is always reminding you just how far behind this four and a half hour pace you are on a regular basis. I wish I could power OFF the screen... 5 hours is about right. And even more than that if you wind up spending time hunting for balls in the dense woods and vegetation that surround the course. Lots of wonderful natural hazards! I love shooting over the huge ravines... Sure I get that they want to keep up the pace, and the Marshalls are really great at helping move things along. But don't take away from the pleasure of playing by stressing folks out about the 4.5 hour pace. Unfortunately, Furry Creek does the same thing. There's even a sign on the cart stating a 4.5 hour playtime. Unrealistic given the commute between holes and the treacherous terrain and blind shots that leave you hunting for your ball a little longer. Played a game at UBC with a foursome, and we finished up in 4hr 20min WALKING on an easy, wide open course with few hazards. And we moved along swiftly from hole to hole without delay as our group were all around about 12 handicappers. Golf carts...PLEASE FIX THE PARKING BRAKES. Very annoying given the steep terrain. And what's with the "sand bunkers"? More like gravel pits. Check out the sand traps at Savage Creek. Nice fluffy white sand. Like you see on the PGA tour. That's what you should be using. Given the price to play, I would expect better conditions. And a free bucket of balls at the practice range in advance would be a nice touch.

Expensive for such rough shape. I didn’t hate having to pull my ball from every bunker but cmon now. Could use some tlc for sure
