First time dining here, delicious food with interesting and tasty flavour combinations. We are tiramisu fans and this won the award from us as the best we have had! We have visited Italy regularly and always enjoy the food, and we would recommend this place. Only small criticism could be the portion size, though we surmised this has been designed to allow for all courses; primi, secondi etc. Service was excellent, attentive and polite staff.

Was going to book, but understand my baby is not welcome for dinner. Very un-Italian.

Great service and delicious pasta

We love Watson and Walpole, it's one of our top picks in Suffolk. The food tastes authentically and deliciously Italian (better than some we've had in Italy), the ingredients are fresh and often locally sourced, the menu changes often while retaining variations on old favourites, the wine list is good and the staff charming and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Everything is extremely tasty, a nice enough setting with effeicent friendly service. Portions a bit stingy for the price imo but overall really delicious food that you cant get anywhere else very locally Vegetarian options: An alternative vegetarian menu is provided with some small alterations from the regular menu.

At the risk of being accused of malevolent and false critique by the owner; yes, the food is good but nothing fantastic. I felt rushed by the staff - menu had not been with us more than 3 minutes when staff asked if we had chosen yet - I needed help understanding what some things were, so had not yet been able to make a choice. The tables are too close together and the atmosphere is not what I was expecting; more like a bistro than an Italian restaurant, disappointing charging what they do. I was appalled at having to give credit card details and being told there would be a £30 charge if booking cancelled less than 24 hours before; what happens if someone is ill/in an accident/car breaks down, any number of unforeseen circumstances beyond normal control and for which you would be penalised. I was also appalled to learn that a 12.5% service charge had already been added to the bill when it was presented to me; surely it should be up to the customer to determine what they would like to give? You cannot have it all ways - claiming to be a local restaurant, catering for the locals but applying charges and high prices which are above and beyond what you are actually offering. As I said - wait for the barbed response from the owner - taking criticism is not something we enjoy, but you are in the public eye and a visitor's comments and experience should be taken as they are meant - not challenged and discredited.

We took the opportunity to have a chefs lunch before the craziness of Christmas started. Absolutely terrific set lunch menu… flavour & menu design totally on point. Such a treat to enjoy food that has clearly been cooked with so much care and attention. Hats off to the entire team. This standard does not happen by chance. Thank you for a wonderful lunch break. And I bumped into another local chef. Definitely the place to eat lunch !
