Viking Burger

Great quality. Delicious food. Really nice people. Gotta get here more often.

I can't say anything about the food as we never made it that far. Exterior had trash strewn about, which should have been a warning to us. We walked in the door and spent less than 10 seconds inside due to the overwhelming scent of marijuana. I don't mind somebody smoking, but I don't want to be overwhelmed when I enter ANY establishment. This stuff was the skunk variety, not good strain. I understand that they say there is a head shop in the same shopping center, but if they claim that it is coming through the vents, they are either lying or share a ventilation system with another business. I am sure that Newport News Fire Department might have an issue with that! if they don't have a private ventilation system, then they are to blame. Bottom line, if you want to smell the overwhelming scent of weed, try this place. If you don't, well......... Edit in response to owner: No, we didn't try your food. Not going to apologize that we couldn't get past the strong odor of burnt marijuana. In a professional environment, they frown on smelling of it. I hate that you disagree and think it's fine. To each his own!

Walked in and turned right back around. Place smelled like marijuana. Trash piled up all outside of it.

Burgers were AWESOME! Great beefy flavor and not greasy. Also, the onion rings and Viking Sauce are AMAZING. Unfortunately, the place is in kind of a sketchy spot, but nevertheless the food was legit. Will come back.

Andy was our server. Walked in and it smelled like weed. Burger was average. Macaroni was cold and burnt.

I have to give the food 4 out of 5 stars only because the fries were too salty for me and my companion. Ask for low salt. I'm POSITIVE the owner will comply. Would I eat here again? Absolutely! I wish I had taken pictures but honestly we scarfed the food down, it was that good. We had burger, grilled cheese sandwich, 2 chicken sandwiches and lots of fries! The chicken is not some premade and frozen thing that they throw in the fryer. This was breast, marinated in something then sauteed. One of the meals was for a relative who just got out of the hospital and would not eat anything for 2 days. She was tentative at eating it but yeah... For the 1st time in 2 days she has a full meal! Had the Thorfinn and Vikiking Fries, This is easily the best burger spot in the state.

2024 Update: The change in location from Warwick to Jefferson lost something in translation. The old fryer was enchanted by Andhrímnir himself, but the Jefferson location can't seem to avoid either undercooking or overcooking my fries. The burgers are still very good, but not legendary. Tales will be sung of the old Warwick feast hall, but I fear the Jefferson location will be forgotten. Original 2000 review: Best place to get a burger in upper Newport News, hands down. Creative and unique menu, great flavors. A true hole in the wall, only about four tables inside the old 'feast hall'. Some picnic tables outside. Gets very busy at lunch on nice days, call in your order ahead of time. Don't expect anything fancy or particularly healthy, but you will leave satisfied, and the staff aims to please despite the small space.
