Food was excellent. Sat at the bar and had great service. Great location downtown. Lobster gnocchi was so good. 10/10
I had made a reservation for 2, we were celebrating a birthday. We arrived 5 minutes early for our scheduled time but had to wait with 2 other parties for 15 minutes because the lone hostess was on the phone with someone placing a pick-up order. We were seated in a quieter room in the back as I requested. I think it was the wine vault room. We ordered a bottle of wine, a bottle of sparkling water, and 2 appetizers to start. The charcuterie board and the wood grilled octopus. The board was good, but the octopus (which I order often when dining out) was like chewing a burnt bicycle tire. We then ordered our entrees, My wife ordered The Seared Diver Scallops, well done, as she always does, and a substation from the tomato risotto to mashed potatoes. I ordered The Pan Seared Salmon medium well, and it was paired with roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus. When the meals arrived, the 4 cherry sized "Diver's scallops" had zero color from "Searing" and were basically raw, and the kitchen forgot to substitute mashed potatoes for the risotto, The salmon I ordered medium well came out of the kitchen like sushi. The side of roasted sweet potatoes was cold. The plate itself was cold to the touch. The asparagus were blanched but were super aldente' almost crispy. We both had to send our meals back to the kitchen. Our meals did come out later as we had originally ordered and was delicious. Our waitress was the best part of this birthday night at Toscan. She was understanding and attentive without hovering or making any excuses. She was outstanding! It's obvious the quality and selection of the food is excellent, but the attention to detail of the kitchen staff and the hostesses needs some serious work, especially for an upscale restaurant.
Only four stars on the food score because they ran out of the ceviche of the day, salmon. Loves the atmosphere and the bar. Sat at the bar while our table was being prepped. Very busy place, 7:45pm was the earliest reservation I could get and it was a frigid February night. We ordered the short ribs and the seafood fra diavolo. Both were very good. Nice bread with oil. We also had the carrot cake, it was a trade off for no ceviche.
When this placed open after Covid, it was the best. It became a regular “go to”. The food was great with service to match. Unfortunately, as time went on, both suffered. Service went down overall and the food really suffered. Also costs went way up. It’s unfortunate because i would go here at least once a month. They still know how to cook a steak but there everything else went down. Often bland. Also they have a tendency to bit way too many tables in during peak season which lowers the overall experience and mashed service suffer. Now it’s just a place to grab a cocktail.
The atmosphere and ambiance is fantastic - our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The seafood fra diavolo and the short rib were delicious - the lobster ravioli was a little undercooked. But all in all the experience was nice!
Took my family for dinner . Great Service, food,& atmosphere. Best steak I ever had the Wagyu steak.. a must get
Honestly I really liked this place the first time I went in 2023. Went back recently in 2024 and got the lobster gnocchi. For over $40, I'd expect more than a small claw's worth of lobster. No exaggeration. The flavor was delicious, but it's enough for me not to want to go back.
The service was lacking. We ordered and the food came….i had no utensils ….the server was no where to be found so I had to ask another server for the utensils and we were done with our appetizers before our server bothered to come over and see how our food was. We decided not to order any more food (even though that was our plan initially) because off the poor service. There were exactly 20 customers in the dining room and high tops so not sure why the service was so bad.
