I sampled my first New Zealand pie from their catering trailer at a cars and coffee event. It was a revelation. After tasting the pie crust, the average burrito tastes like it’s wrapped in a piece of photocopy paper. I tried the steak and cheese. It was very satisfying. If you’re looking for an alternative to the mundane Egg McMuffin, sandwich burger or burrito, this is the way to go.
My partner and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner this evening and we got a steak and mushroom and a blueberry pie. They were absolutely delicious, the pastry blew our minds it was light and honestly perfect. I would recommend this place to anybody. Hands-down the best food we’ve had in a long time and a great person running it.
Tip Top Pies is a Lafayette favorite. The steak and cheese is a go-to pie. Steak and ale a 2nd favorite. They now have an artichoke spinach that was amazing. It is a small shop to get hot to eat or frozen to take home. Deffinetly get some frozen. You will dream about that flaky crust and be glad you did. Awesome outdoor eating area in downtown Lafayette. Parking: Street side and a free lot across the street. Kid-friendliness: The inside is small, but they have a wonderful outdoor dining area.
I shared a pie with Bacon, Egg and Cheese and also a Steak and Ale pie. The pastry was well made and both pie options tasted great. Coffee is good too, so will be recommending to friends and coming back too
New Zealand-style pies! Never been here before. Originally was headed for Chocolaterie Stam which was a few doors down. I hadn't had breakfast yet and tried this place out with my partner. Max who was working there was most excellent giving information on where the pies are made as well as a little history of what he knew about New Zealand. As for the food I got myself the bacon, cheese and egg pie. Absolutely delicious the pie was flakey it had a bold bacon flavor throughout without being super greasy and the eggs were perfectly scrambled. Pies come frozen or warmed up. Had to have one warmed up. The building had a nice seating area with seating outwardly looking the side and front windows out looking the street with music coming from a portable speaker which In my opinion set the mood just a bit better not to quite not to loud. Would definitely come here again when in need of a date place or in need of a pie.
My husband absolutely loves Tip Top Pies! We live down the street and he gets them all the time. I used to be a huge fan as well, but sadly haven't been able to have them since the gluten free ones were discontinued. I totally understood over the last few years with shortages of ingredients, but as things normalize it would be great to see them come back so I could enjoy them as well! I'm totally willing to pay whatever price it takes to make it a reasonable investment for the company, even if they are only available by special order or something! Edited: Bummed that the gluten free pies still haven't come back! I miss them so much! Dietary restrictions: Used to have GF options, no more :(
Great taste and good quality, just the prices are a little bit higher.
