absolutely amazing food my boyfriend and i were starving and spotted this whole in the wall and my god , some of the best mexican food I've ever had . i recommend the asada tacos as well as the rice and beans. 10/10.
Food is always fresh. Interesting South American take on Mexican dishes. Only caution is the torta is much different than expected. More like a sandwich with ketchup. Also the tamales are in banana leaf so it’s bigger and more moist than Mexican tacos.
The past two times I came here (both times I ordered by phone for carry-out), they charged me more than the menu price. The first time, they charged me $45 for an order that cost $40 (I calculated the total menu price on my own afterwards cause $45 seemed a little high). But the difference wasn't too bad; maybe they made a small mistake, so I came back about a month later. The second time, I ordered $67 worth of food and drink, but they charged me $83. I considered escalating this, but I decided to just pay the $83 and not come back here. The food (tacos) itself is not bad - one of the better taco places in the area, but they take their customers for chumps. I do not recommend.
Dirty, terrible service, chewy, fatty meat. There are much better taco places around here. Take out took 25 extra minutes once I arrived.
I went on a Thursday night and it broke my heart to see this restaurant empty. I used to frequent la marqueza taqueria which is right next door for years until prices went up and quality of food went down. It became too salty and not flavorful. My other spot is La torre on Washtenaw. Grateful to have finally stopped in Tikalito (road sign says Korean food I think, disregard) . I got two lengua tacos and one carne asada. Everything was delicious including their salsa verde and hot sauce. Not to mention serving radishes with tacos is always a win. That’s the only way you get them in LA. Who ever is in the kitchen, thank you! Will be back!!! Spread the word if you want authentic Mexican food!
Absolutely amazing menu and food!
Hector's Tikalito has the best tacos on this side of town hands down! My favs are carne asada & campechano tacos , gorditas, and quesadillas! The taco sauces are amazing (salsa verde and an orange-ish one I've only had here which is ) and I love to wash it all down with an ice cold Jamaica!!!! Tikalito gets 5 stars all day!!!!!
My son has brought us food from here a few times jowls. It is so good! I had the tamales this time and they were WONDERFUL. The chicken was perfect.
