Just been to the tollgate for a carvery on my own at 1pm food was delicious. Beef just melted in your mouth, and left there with a very full belly. Emily hosting me was very attentive, asking if my food was ok And taking my plate away straight away once finished Would use again 5 stars from me Jake

Megan our waitress and matt were friendly, helpful and went put there way to make sure my little 9month had some food as he has a milk allergy. Matt asked the chef to prepare cauliflower with no sauce for little man to eat. Megan went through all the carvary items with milk in so I know what he could and couldn't eat. Chef called me over when my food was done, so I could have mine with my hubby who was having the carvey . Well recommend and defo come back. Lovely evening celebrating our 4th anniversary, specially with little man by our sides to celebrate too. Vegetarian options: Root veg bake

This art deco pub was a regular haunt of my parents back in the 60s. Sadly, rather than being treasured as the unique landmark it could be, it’s been left to deteriorate a great deal and inside is as scruffy as the neglected exterior. It’s a real pity. It could be something special. Alas, it seems to target the less affluent clientele with a menu akin to a school canteen coupled with lazy service. We were invited to order and pay via a QR code (a definite no-no) while waiting staff stood around, happy to pass up the chance of earning a tip. Perhaps this explains why, on a Sunday afternoon, it was completely deserted but for one or two other tables. If you’re on a budget and don’t mind eating in a tatty, uninspiring, and run down venue, then you might just like it.

My son was served halloumi fries on a bed on brown soggy lettuce- the fries were also cold. His pepperoni pizza was so soggy with grease that it has no structure and fell apart - he was starving so he ate most of it. It took over 45 mins to bring the pizza in an almost empty restaurant. My husband and I had a carvery each. The beef was like rock, The turkey was so dry and given in small ripped off bits. The gammon looked like it was mostly fat so I avoided that. The pigs in blankets were like rocks Veg was cold, roast potatoes chewy , the stuffing was so dry it flew apart when you tried to pick it up with the spoon to serve. The bubble and squeak was dried up to the sides of the tray. I paid nearly £50 for the worst carvery and pizzas we’ve ever had
