What a great little BBQ joint in downtown Vancouver. It is right off of I5 right as you cross the bridge. My son and I had "The Fatty" sandwich. It is brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and coleslaw on a Brioche bun. I had it with a side of cornbread he had a side of Mac and cheese. The cornbread was ok but his mac and cheese was amazing. Everything on the sandwich was great. The brisket was juicy and had a nice peppery crust, the pulled pork was nice and moist, the sausage added a great taste to it. This thing was huge. I could only finish half of it. I will definitely be back.
Food was great, atmosphere was chill. No kids menu or foods that are easy for kids to eat.
Sweet T was nice & sweet/southern style, loved the Huckleberry Lemonade. We did the big BBQ plate & sides: mac & ch and potato salad. Ordered smoked beet & 12 wings too. Plenty for us to eat. Wings were my fav in addition to the smoked beet salad. Smoked sausage was my next fav. Brisket was nice & buttery. We asked for the white bread, pickles & onions and never got them. Got a table check-in as we were almost done. Too late to use the bread, pickels, and onion, so we just let it slide. Too full for dessert, otherwise, we'd get the banana bread pudding as that sounded delish.
I did like any of my food outside of the mac and cheese. I threw it all away.
FABULOUS BBQ & OUTSTANDING PEOPLE. Patrick from Smokin Oak catered a celebration of life for us for 120 people. He was easy to communicate with from the get go and brought positivity to a hard situation. He helped me understand what was needed in order to cater the event properly. The BBQ was amazing (brisket, chicken, mac'n cheese, potato salad, beans, rolls) and, additionally, he and his staff - who also served alcohol - were personable and kind. Everything was setup just as we had planned and in place on time. Much thanks to you, Patrick, and your awesome crew! ~ karyn
