Basic clean and friendly. Just what we wanted.
We didn't stay in the hotel, so we can't comment on that but we did stay in our van in the car park. We have a camper van and like to park respectfully when sleeping in it. We came across the Royal Hotel and were going to park nearby but thought we'd ask if on the off chance they'd allow us to stay in the car park if we had some drinks/food. The young man at the bar kindly agreed to let us stay if we had a meal. We had already eaten that evening but had a few pints and after our walk the next day we did stay for food and more drinks. We had the curry mayo sandwiches and they were amazing! You rarely find that filling of choice on sandwiches in pubs and so this was so refreshing to have. We had a really nice experience at this pub, both with the friendly and helpful staff and the lovely food.
What an amazing cozy escape this Hotel is! From very friendly staff and customer service to the quaint and historical interiors that mix modern with old aesthetics. Our room was clean well kept and very comfortable to stay in. The breakfast the next morning was beautiful with extras put on for more options with your breakfast... Cannot recommend enough and will definitely be staying here again Thank you so much for your hospitality
Amazing little hotel near to the best walking trails. The staff were really nice and polite. The food was outstanding at the bar and the breakfast. We will definitely come back. Only one problem was the central heating system, sometimes it was too cold in the room but this is my personal opinion.
Small room Rooms: Very small room
Best Sunday roast I’ve had so far in the UK. Massive portion sizes, super tasty, and lovely pub. Great service too. I’m bringing my dad here next time he comes to the UK
Outstanding pub lunch!!! Worth travelling off the beaten track and potentially hitting a sheep for this lunch. Beef, lamb and chicken all a hit at this table, plus the ice cream selection
