My boyfriend and I stopped in recently for dinner, and it was absolutely wonderful! It’s been really difficult to find great service matched with excellent food recently (since Covid, really) and The Rosa certainly did not disappoint. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for, a bit upscale but still cozy and comfortable (we sat at a high top by the bar). I felt that the pricing was super fair. We got the Italian wedding soup, chicken Marsala and bolognese, with cannoli for dessert; they were all spot on. Thank you for a great experience!!

Service and atmosphere were great. The waitress was on top of helping our large party. However, while plated well the Shrimp scampi I got and the chicken Marsala a member of my party got were pretty bland for Italian cooking and the prices we were paying.

I debated writing a review of my experience at The Rosa, but it was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn people about this restaurant. The atmosphere has been the same since it opened, casual and accommodating to families and friends. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. However, the food was disgusting! My mom and I ordered garlic bread, caesar salads, the lasagna, and the "rosa special" pasta dish for dinner. The garlic bread was burnt, the cheese was curdled, and there was 0 garlic flavor. The dressing on the caesar salad was so sweet you could barely taste the actual salad. My lasagna was inedible, I actually spit my food out and sent it back (our waitress did take that off the check). The chef has put some sort of sweet spice or expired ingredient in the meat sauce that made it taste foul. My moms pasta dish was plated so strange, it was off-putting for her to eat. I used to love this place and after our experience, I never see myself dinning here again until the kitchen gets itself together.

Felt very welcome. Had the the haddock with squash, and Brussel sprouts. Excellent! Server Mark was very attentive and made great drink recommendations. Atmosphere was busy but not noisy. Just an amazingly mellow, warm and pleasant experience. Other staff were also friendly but Mark was outstanding. Will go back when in Portsmouth. Bill was 117.16 for 2 people which included 2 drinks each, main course and dessert.

Food was absolutely delicious, portions were generous especially for a reasonable price in Portsmouth. Cocktail selection was elite in my opinion, something for everyone with well balanced ingredients. Atmosphere is very cozy, along with friendly service. Will definitely become a regular spot!
