This is a friendly, hard working, more than decent pub in idyllic surroundings which is why I have given it 5 stars for everything. The food is better than most - the desserts are particularly fabulous - service is spot on and the place has more than its fair share of Syssex warmth.
The food was very disappointing. Two from our party had the chicken pie which was soggy and tasteless. I had the vegan bowl which was very uninspiring...basically a bowl of chickpeas and butternut pieces with the odd piece of kale and broccoli and a side bowl of boiled potatoes ! Very overpriced and won't be returning.
The Plough and Harrow is an absolutely lovely pub. We visited as a party of seven with three dogs and were seated at a table inside. Our drinks order was taken really quickly and when we had an issue with one of the drinks they immediately remedied it. We ordered four Franco chicken burgers, one fish and chips and two beef burgers. The food came really quickly and was absolutely delicious. The chicken burgers were a whole chicken breast that had been lightly battered, with a delicious homemade slaw and the chips were divine. The beef burger was similarly really nice and had loads of fresh salad in it. Just wished the chip portion was a bit bigger. When the child's beef burger came the kids meal had more chips than the adults meal did, as they put them in little metal pots for the adults meals. The inside of the pub is lovely it has loads of fairy lights and old fashioned swirly light bulbs. The staff members were really helpful. There were lots of menus around so we didn't have to share and the whole pub itself looked really clean. The toilets were also clean. That was a good range of seating inside as well as outside in the beer garden and further down past the car park there's also an additional garden with seating. The Plough and Harrow is obviously very popular as it was very busy and we went. I can see why, we had a lovely meal and we'll definitely be going back.
Great place to stop for a beer and something to eat for all dog walkers
Wonderful food and extremely kind staff! So many happy dogs and one very happy me!
Lovely pub with friendly service and a great selection of local beers and ales from Long Man Brewery. They have a game cabinet that’s great for kids, and loads of outdoor seating. Couldn’t ask for more! Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and games cabinet.
I have come to the Plow and harrow a number of times, I have enjoyed it each time, food is always lovely, the food was a little slow to come out, but that didn’t matter as you could taste it was freshly cooked, I loved the V cut chips, Staff friendly Can’t wait to come back in the summer and enjoy the garden.
Too expensive. Nothing special.
