Parking: Good food, great service, but high prices.
I dropped into The Onion a few weeks ago while visiting Spokane and I enjoyed my visit very much. The place has a traditional pub/corner bar vibe and features traditional pub grub done well. I had the chicken sandwich in an onion-mushroom gravy that was delicious and a side of green beans. Not fancy but tasty. The person next to me raved about their French Onion soup and also ordered a plate of nachos that, when served looked like it could feed a family of four. Their large beer selection on tap was one of my favorite parts of my visit and I thoroughly enjoyed my Scottish Ale. And the prices were reasonable. The only downside was the service. No one was at the host stand when I arrived and after waiting 20 minutes for someone to notice me I decided to give up and go to the bar. There were plenty of open tables though none were cleaned off. I flagged down a waiter finally and asked him if it was OK to sit and he said yes but that it might take a while to get it cleaned. After sitting I waited another 40 minutes for service. I finally gave up and sat at the bar, where I was immediately greeted and promptly served. The bartender was great so no complaints there. I stopped in in the middle of the Friday night dinner service and my guess is that they were short-staffed. I’d like to go back and try them again when I am in town though because I really did enjoy my time there even with the slow service at the beginning.
Everything tasted like it was cooked in old oil. Prawns were undercooked and squishy, halibut was good. Beer wasn't very cold, service was meh.
I love to visit that place again it was very awesome employees well-mannered and very polite
Beware- happy hour specials listed on actual menu vs the “happy hour menu” are different in time and price. Should probably update your actual menu before changing everything over. Do the cheese sticks over the onion rings, the burger meat to bun ratio isn’t impressive for $19 and may be like a hockey puck. Place has potential but disappointing experience.
This was my first trip to The Onion Bar and Grill. We were in town for the weekend to see a Broadway show and the restaurant was very busy. I was glad we had made a reservation. Even though they were absolutely slammed with customers, my server was friendly and attentive. I chose the Original Onion Pepper Steak-- it was delicious.
Best onion rings in the world, have to try them. Amazing beer selection to go with it.
