The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop

Small shop with gifts downstairs and of course, cherry Bakewells. They sell other sweet stuff and have a cafe upstairs. We had tea in the cafe, and bought a "famous" cherry Bakewell. Everything is expensive in Bakewell, and the original Bakewell pudding shop is no exception. As a Yorkshireman I was saying "ow much? Ya avvin a laff ain't ya?" Like £3 odd for a cup of tea in the cafe... No seriously for ONE CUP OF TEA!!! .. And sadly the Bakewell tart was mediocre to say the least. Have a look in, but be prepared to spend spend spend! Edit to the response: I can confirm it cost us £6.50 for one pot of tea for 2 people. The cups are small so we got 2 cups each out of the pot that was equal to one real cup of tea each. Hence £3.25 for one cup of tea.

We have been getting their wonderful pastries for a while, recently we also tried the restaurant upstairs for lunch. It was simply amazing. Food was so delicious that our entire family licked plates! Every single item on plates was outstanding, unique and tasty.

Decent food, large portions and Bakewell Tart was very impressive. Service slow and things came in dribs and drabs with items forgotten, before reminders. However it was a busy time of day and staff were polite. Prices very favourable for such a touristic place.

Not even slow staff but here the management's response after I waited 30 minutes for a cup of coffee. 30-minute means 30 minutes. It does not mean 10 minutes. You provided fraud information that I feel it is totally incorrect. TripAdvisor does not allow me to respond to you. However, here it is. I have a witness sitting and waiting with me, not only me. I do not know how you could be the original pudding shop in the town, it may have been because of over-marketing. Absolutely outstanding in the worst way. Jesus Christ.

Amazing place! The staff were so attentive and helpful. Especially a young girl called Ezri. Couldn’t be more helpful. I will definitely be returning
