Lovely tea room would highly recommend
Had the grilled cheese brioche and lemon cake. Both lovely
It was very quiet, had a small sandwich and a pot of tea for 1 and it cost over £11. I didn't expect it to be that expensive.
Have been to this place many times when the lovely Italian man owned it. However it now has a new owner the menu is rubbish with not much choice like jacket potato we ordered a sausage cob sausage barely warm and bread looked as though it had been cut with a blunt knife not even nicely presented hubby had breakfast cob and saidcthe same thing undercooked bacon cold sausage and no runny yoke on egg bread just fell to pieces. We had to wait quite a while for food as well. The only redeeming factor was the tea was nice. All staff need more training cook defo does and needs to learn how to present food so it looks at least appetising. Too many staff crowding out the kitchen and yelling upstairs to staff. Suffice it to say we definitely will not be returning such a shame as the previous owner had a belting little place with a fab menu and tasty food and polite friendly staff. I appreciate the new owner has only been there for a few weeks so fairly new but definitely needs to pull out all the stops to improve everything. Quite expensive as we for what we had.
OMG! Why oh why change a winning formula. The best home made fries anywhere and now guess what ‘we don’t serve chips!’. My monthly dietary treat of ham egg and chips is NO MORE. Another cafe bites the dust. On entering on a Friday lunchtime it’s usually rammed but completely empty!!! WARNING NEW OWNERS, people will vote with their feet like they did with the fish and chip restaurant and new owners making too many changes.
I visited the old bakery on a busy Saturday, and had a great experience. I had the frittata, my daughter had the grilled cheese brioche and my friend had a bacon sandwich, finished off by a slice of freshly baked chocolate cake each (DELICIOUS). You can tell everything is freshly made each day with quality ingredients. This was our first visit but can’t wait to come back again!
Best place we visit at Newark for afternoon coffe and cake. The fruit tart is Godlike as well as the coffe, the service really good. 100% recommended.
I went a couple of days ago to what I thought would be a nice afternoon tea experience. No. I don't know what this new management has done to the food, but I don't want dog hair in my afternoon tea, thanks. Also, I didn't pay this much for a £4 scone that's clearly from Morissons?? I've been previously under the old management, and at least the service was decent. But where's that gone?
