The Matlock Cafe

Went here for Sunday dinner, which was lamb. Lovely food and staff and very reasonable prices. I felt completely at home :)

My partner and I stumbled on this cafe while walking through Matlock before a football game and we enjoyed every moment. I'm a vegetarian, and the big veggie breakfast was delicious and well worth the price. My first time trying an oatcake as well. My partner went for the scampi and chips which was a decent portion and served steaming hot just as she likes it. The host was happy to show me the separate area the vegetarian dishes are cooked in, even though this isn't something I'm fussed over, I appreciated the care that goes into providing a decent meal for someone with a different diet. Easily recommend to anyone in Matlock for the day.

I couldn’t give more stars. I would give them all! Me and 5 others were bracing ourselves for a long day hiking and I was having my fingers crossed we’ll find seats inside on a Saturday morning. We were welcomed and the staff were happy to see us! I instantly felt like at home. Lovely food, great atmosphere. It will be the cafe I will always return when in Matlock. I had a “Breakfast 2”, perfect for big eaters :p Kid-friendliness: It has kid food

Good coffee, impressive looking cakes at good prices. It is still being renovated so work still in progress in toilets.

Lovely place! Staff were very friendly and funny, and the food was delicious as well as very reasonably priced. Highly recommend the roast dinners!

Wandering around Matlock and came across this little gem, to find a place like this in and among all the bistros and chain coffee shops is a rarity, what I'd call a 'proper cafe', just had coffees and a bacon sarnie, which was cooked perfectly, but they had a fantastic range of specials at great prices which looked fantastic and the staff were really friendly and welcoming If you're ever in Matlock, give this place a visit, we'll definitely be back..
