The Loose Box Cafe

Visited this cafe Sunday 21st January. It was my sisters birthday and my friend and I thought it would be nice to treat my sister to a nice breakfast which seemed a lovely location. The three of us entered the cafe , no warm welcome however I politely asked for a tea and added please can I have extra milk , I was told in an abrupt manner “ it comes with a jug of milk “ I said okay thank you. My friend then asked for a coffee , the same women responded with “ yeah what sort cappuccino , latte , what “ My friend said latte please I then looked across at my sister and asked what drink she would like , my sister replied nothing yet. The lady who iv since found out is the owner shouted across the room “ well you can’t sit in here without a drink “. Obviously my friend and I would not sit inside the cafe and want my sister having to wait outside so I said it’s okay we will leave , the other lady present had not began making the drinks. My friend then opened the door , opposite the one we entered and was about to walk out , suddenly the owner shouted “ what you doing not that door “ , my friend apologised and said oh I’m sorry it’s open though. The owner then said “ I know it’s opened I opened it this morning myself”. The owner then began moving my friend and sister out of the door saying “ come on then come on out you go “ . At this point we were all in complete shock and could not believe how she actually treated us. We are all disgusted and thoroughly upset by not only how she treated us but for ruining my sisters birthday. The woman is a bully and it’s tragic that my sister who was celebrating her 75th birthday has been left feeling shaken and upset by her actions

Great coffee and cake but was it really necessary to admonish a member of staff in front of the customers?

Came across this little gem whilst visiting local Picton Gardens. Lovely broccoli and Stilton soup with roll (vegan option available) plus a pot of nice strong tea (aptly named Bold Breakfast tea). Many gluten free/dairy free/ vegan options which are clearly stated on the blackboard menu. Will be returning.

Said it was open and it was closed. Find out when you pull in and have to turn around. Update: apparently you need to check their website or Facebook before you go. They don't have enough staff.

We love it here, the most amazing guineas and chocolate cake, the girls that work there are lovely and we found a nice 3 mike loop to walk.

Gorgeous little place, well worth stopping at if you’re in the area. The food and service was fantastic. It’s dog friendly inside too which is a bonus on a rainy day.

Amazing coffee and cake at Loose box today. The staff were very friendly. The courtyard had a relaxing atmosphere with lovely views of the local landscape and buildings around the court. I'll definitely be back.
