Not kid friendly at all Families are NOT welcome here. We are here every Sunday afternoon (1pm) Our kids play soccer at the fields they share a fence with. The place was DEAD, literally only soccer families were supporting The Local that early afternoon. They have corn hole, large Jenga, and a kids menu, no where does it say adults only or 21+. Our kids were always supervised and mindful of others, there were no other adults around us. One of the bartenders told me I need to keep my kids on the soccer field and not here. For a restaurant located in the suburbs, talking about Sunday afternoons - not Uptown or a place crawling with young adults, I found this to be ridiculous. I understand not wanting families at a bar on Friday or Saturday nights, but to be openly hostile to families on a Sunday afternoon is absurd. We spent $100s there as a group. If you have kids, don’t bother supporting this business as they have made it very clearly that they don’t want you there.
Disappointing Experience at Local Shacks I recently visited Local Shacks with a group of parents and kids, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment. Upon arrival, we noticed signs indicating that anyone under 16 needed to be accompanied by an adult, which we fully complied with. However, despite not being the only group with children, we were singled out and rudely informed that we needed to leave the premises because of our kids. This discriminatory treatment was not only embarrassing but also completely unwarranted, considering we were following the restaurant's own guidelines. Furthermore, the service was lackluster, with long wait times for both seating and food orders. The staff seemed disorganized and unprofessional, adding to the overall negative experience. Overall, my visit to Local left a bitter taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience, especially for families with children.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We are at this location every weekend due to a soccer field being next to it. They do not appreciate very respectful children being at their location. We will never go back and spend out money at places that allow children.
It would be a lot cooler if the bartenders knew how to take more than one person's order at a time.
Have been here before and really enjoyed ourselves but yesterday was there with my family including my two young kids. I was told they didn’t like the look of my diaper bag and was told to put it in my car. I thought this was a kid friendly place but now I’m not so sure. Really left a bad experience.
held a republican rally and one of the republican lady came up to me and shamed me for not wanting to talk politics, she asked who I was gonna vote for and o told her I would rather keep my own beliefs to myself than she started yelling and telling people I was a soft liberal and that I was ruining this country, I felt so embarrassed
Drinks taste like dirty water. Over 6 drinks ordered and every single one tasted worse. Don’t waste your time or your money.
For being a Saturday when it’s not busy the girl bartenders didn’t even acknowledge us. We stood at the bar for over 5 min and needed up leaving.
Been to local frequently and staff is amazing (Mika, Alexis, and Grace in particular) great drinks, great shots, and always a good vibe.
