Wanted to dine in during lunch, but after I had placed my order I was told there was "an extra charge to dine in" (besides a tip?) and was instead given my order to-go. Did not get my side of jerk sauce either. This place is the pits!
Food was amazing, portion size even better
Sooooo there’s a new Jerk Pit location at Adams Morgan.
The good- I love any and everything that celebrates my culture. The brown stew snapper was on point 😋🤤
The bad - patty was cold, their solution was to microwave 😑 now, anyone serving patty should KNOW not to microwave because it becomes soggy. They did a shift change at some point. Sever didn’t close out or mention it and clearly didn’t do a hand off so the incoming staff were confused, creating a new tab instead of continuing my existing bill. On the plus side, the next staff finally checked the status of my entree. I had to request the SAME cocktail SEVERAL times and repeatedly not get my drink. They are hiring, so if you have hospitality experience, go help them out!
Anyway, if you’re in the area, stop by because the brown stew snapper was worth every the inconvenience.
FINALLY A PLACE WITH SOME GOOD ASS JERK CHICKEN...I TRIED NEGRIL AND OTHER JAMAICAN RESTAURANTS AND THEY WERE JUST HORRIBLE (THEY USUALLY BAKE THE CHICKEN AND CALLS IT (JERK CHICKEN AFTERWARDS) AND FOR THE REGULAR AMERICAN PERSON WHO NEVER TRAVELLED OUTSIDE THE US ...YOU WILL LOVE IT BUT FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO BEEN TO JAMAICA 3 TIMES AND KNOW WHAT REAL JERK CHICKEN TASTES LIKE AND BEEN WORKING IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY IN THE PAST FOR SO LONG...(YOU CANNOT FOOL ME)...I MEAN THEIR JERK CHICKEN WAS SO DAMN CLOSE TO WHAT YOU WILL GET IN Jamaica...JUICY... SUCCULENT..TENDER AND NOT DRY....RICE WAS SEASONED UNLIKE MOST PLACES WERE RICE AND PEAS TASTE BLAND AND NO FLAVOR AND DID I FORGET THE PORTIONS....THEY GIVE YOU ENOUGH RICE... PROTEINS ...I TRULY LOVE THIS PLACE AND I HOPE THEY WON'T CHANGE
Had a horrible experience I called just to get something to snack on I was driving from Maryland to DC and only got 2 beef patties and 8 piece pepper shrimp was told over the phone it would be 20mins which my drive was 25mins I got there to be waiting another 20-25mins for only 3 items highly disappointed call in orders should also be a priority won’t order unless eating inside
The combination of delicious food, a great location, and good service made the experience enjoyable. The spicy yet smooth BBQ jerk wings were the highlight and I will definitely return and try something else on the menu.
Tried this restaurant via door dash took 2 1/2 hours to arrive, received the wrong items because of the restaurant than for DoorDash to not even refund me for 70.00 worth of food. The food was below average and came spilled all over the plastic bag, this is not worth the cost it’s very unseasoned but looks good off of first glance. Maybe the true experience is to come inside the restaurant because delivery was horrible I do not recommend at all especially taking the chance of not getting what you paid for.
Dropped in for lunch on my home from the hardware store. Found the taste of home! Great flavours! Had a large Jerk Pork with Rice n Peas and Plantain. Deliciousness! Irie! Gonna come back!
I attended the grand opening on October 5th. It was a small, intimate turnout for the grand opening. They had WKYS radio station there playing nice reggae tunes. The owner had samples of jerk chicken and coco bread, bread pudding, and fruit being handed out.
There's a small seating area downstairs, but they also have an upstairs area. And they have a bar. I originally wanted to order brown stew fish, but I was informed by the server that seafood items would take 30 to 35 minutes to prepare. So I settled for curry chicken, with rice and peas, and plantain on the side. The chicken could've had more curry gravy. The rice had some pepper in it and tasted a bit scorched. I've eaten at the location off of Rt1 plenty of times, and their food is normally good. I think the chef may have rushed the food preparation that day.
I would recommend this location and would eat there again if I'm in Adam's Morgan area. They are open until 3am, on Friday and Saturday. There's a parking garage on 18th Street. Parking is $20 and up. Street parking is also an option if you're lucky enough to find a space.
Friendly servers and good oxtail. Don't sleep on some chicken or beef patties on a late night - better option than empanadas or jumbo slice in my opinion
The place had some serious growing pains the first month. Slow service because of few servers and they ran out of alot of menu items. But lately they've been doing pretty good. Awesome meal late night on a Saturday if your out in AdMo. Hopefully they keep getting better.
Oh my hot damn. Oxtail is special. Admo hit this place up they are cookin.
The food and service are very good. The jerk chicken and jerk shrimp are bomb. The mac and cheese could be better, needs seasoning and maybe a different noodle. But overall great, glad to have this new place.
Just as good as the silver spring location but the service here is always faster and friendlier
