The Hockley Brook Bar & Restaurant

Tried gajar halwa for the first time with this place this weekend. I didn't expect it to look so red and like a paste though. I've looked at pictures on Google it looks more orange and sometimes cake-like or you can see the shredded carrots and there's nuts in the dessert or it's like there's added milk and I learned it can be eaten with ice cream.. Either way this one, though tasty (once chilled overnight in fridge) had a strong "greasy" flavour and smell that could be mistaken for near stale tinned milk.. but I think it's the ghee they use? 2nd order of gajar halwa the flavours were strange, like they used bad carrots or something.. very disappointing because it was delicious first time I tried same thing only 2 days ago I purchased from this place. I will have to look at other places to try their gajar halwa.. Still I think they are good cooks. Some places can be hit or miss especially when they have such a big menu but these people seem consistent with some things I've bought from them which I've recommended below. I can't comment on the atmosphere because I've only ever had delivery from just eat and uber eats but I would recommend this place for my fellow vegetarians and it's fast delivery and good portions, always arrives hot! Vegetarian options: mango lassi, sweet lassi, rice, salad, naan bread

Went there for the second time. Very bad experience. I told the chef that yogurt is off, there was no apology or explanation and brushed me off. Never again. Very disappointed

Ordered of Uber eats for my family wich is a very rare occasion spent around £50 wich I have had to save to be able to treat the family missing 3 curry’s chips and drinks was only delivered 1 curry and rice with a cheese naan called the restraint they basically said all the food was in the bag packed along with drinks and it must be the driver that’s taken them out contacted Uber eats and there response was we can’t offer u a refund but take my feedback on board don’t waste your money because the food that actually arrived tasted gritty was freezing cold and absolutely tasteless !!!

very nice food it's so delicious that it's reminds you the real taste of India, though the location and ambience is not so good, the new chef is really making food so delicious that we are coming quiet often here now,

Just disgusing customer service manager doesn't even know how to deal with a customer ....bullshit
