Good coffee and bakewell cake with lovely views of church and fields beyond.
Charming coffee spot right on the Tye, great views, fascinating history
First negative review I’ve ever left on Google. Stopped here whilst cycling South Downs Way with my six year old son. Put three empty bottles on the counter, had a long conversation about the food and ordered coffee, ice cream and cake. Then asked if I could fill our bottles up and was told that “the owner has said we have to charge for bottles refills”. I get that the cafe is on the SDW route and they may get a lot of people trying to refill bottles without buying anything but we were about to be paying customers! I’ve never been to a restaurant, bar or cafe where you can’t get tap water with your order. It was a real “computer says no” moment and the staff couldn’t take any initiative. So I spent my £15 in a lovely Italian shop and cafe instead.
Lovely tea room and very friendly staff
It's an alright tea room/cafe, fairly basic and it's a bit odd...it has no signage or anything outside where most places would have their name and also probably a menu? Inside it has space for indoor seating and it looks like that was perhaps the idea but instead they've blocked off upstairs and it's full of junk.... We had a couple of ice creams which were ok but expensive due to the small tub size.
Beautiful coffee, beautiful place, fresh air- perfect combination
