25 March 2024 We attend The General Elliott after receiving poor service from The Swan Public House at Winwick. On entering The General Elliott we were welcomed by an extremely courteous, professional and pleasant staff member who showed us to our table, where she explained current ongoing works being undertaken on the premises and where the toilets were situated. We ordered Salmon, Fish Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding, all of which were hot and delicious. We will definitely make The General Elliott our first port of call for a meal, this being due to the professionalism of our greeting and the quality of food and service we received. We would ask that our comments and thanks be passed on to the young lady who welcomed and served us. Parking: Although works are ongoing at this location we found the services unaffected by the works being undertaken
Visited with a group. Food was good but service was a little disorganised, however this could have been a one off. Having said this I would go again.
Nice place and a decent pint. Good live music also
They changed the menu. Most of the dishes on the photos from other reviews are not available. We spent £100 for a family of 4. The fish and chips were completely overcooked, even hard to chew - I was hungry and wish I had one from my local takeaway instead - really bad!, and the "beef and mash" - swim in liquid smoke like in a gravy - may be there was some small amount of pulled beef underneath potatoes mash, questionable quality, I do not know... what this dish was it ment to be?? The young guy serving us was nice and got tips. Been there 14th of march, evening - not returning and not recommending.
Lovely atmosphere, superb food, excellent service, and gorgeous view from the patio. Now breakfast on a Friday, Saturday & Sunday morning. The delicious changing menu does not disappoint. Warm and toastie with a real fire that even the dogs love. The General Elliot store is a real treat. Absolutely gorgeous to sit outside on a sunny day with a coffee and watch the world go by or stop for a rest during a walk.
Very glad this reopened. Lovely food, well presented and really friendly staff who didn't hover and pester you. Will definitely be returning.
Lovely place and staff are really friendly. Food was nice
Came here for food a couple of times in Jan 24 . Very nice atmosphere. Food was very nice as well . It can take a bit of time to prepare as it all freshly made but well worth . Large car park at the rear as well.
We spent this New Year’s Eve at The General Elliot, having a meal and drinks. We had a really great time. The food was absolutely delicious and we very much enjoyed the music. Thanks for your hospitality and generosity. We will certainly come again next New Year’s Eve.
