Lovely little shop and cafe. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Our dog was very well looked after by the staff with water, biscuits and some sausages. Reasonable prices for their coffee and cake. The Bakewell slice is lovely! Highly recommend this cafe.
Lovely lil café, food and coffee was lovely I had the Derbyshire oatcakes and wow so delicious scone and bakewell cakes were amazing too. Highly recommend great value and dog friendly.
Coffee is just from a push-button machine. Nothing special. Typical soulless tourist cafe. Tea for two is a pot barely enough for one. No GF / gluten free options, in case you’re searching for that.
Cosy spot for coffee and cake, if a little expensive.
Friendly, attentive service. Great cheese on toast and soup - just what we wanted!
I fell down near the Derbyshire Emporium. The ladies in the cafe came out and helped me into the cafe. They looked after me so well and provided me with coffee and water to drink. They were so kind and caring. Thank you. PS The coffee was good too!
Do not believe the statement saying buy 5 drinks and get 6th free with the loyalty card stamps! We visited on Saturday morning and had a loyalty card from a previous visit with 2 stamps on. We bought 5 drinks and when I went to pay I was told we only got 1 stamp per visit not per drink. I did question this and said we had been given 2 stamps on the previous visit but the female assistant was quite rude and repeated it was only 1 stamp per visit. The card clearly says buy 5 drinks get 6th free. Very disappointing service. The drinks were good though.
I really don't understand all the low star reviews. The cafe was super busy and the coffee machine was broken but the staff were still very lovely and apologetic. The food was delicious, and the cafe was warm, comfortable, and clean. Dogs welcome as well. I think the 1 stars are just from grumpy and entitled people if you have an ounce of understanding, this cafe is great.
Heed other reviews and don't waste your time or money - terrible experience and would get zero stars if possible. We chose this place, as it's in a prime location for directions. Only having a few tables and being dog 'friendly', we arrived early at 2pm to meet a friend for 2.30pm. At that time (others did free up), the only table available was 2 tables pushed together, laden with used crockery and cutlery, which we pushed to one side. Over the next hour, not one staff member acknowledged us, and we eventually separated the tables, rather than have a pile of used crockery/cutlery next to us. Resentful and half-hearted 'attempts' were made to clear the table, and there were still cups/plates unremoved (as there were on other tables) when we left. With only a few tables, and at least 3 unsmiling staff members, there was no reason not to keep the tables clean and tidy. And to add insult to injury, when we approached a staff member at 2.50pm to place our order, we were told that they were closing at 3pm (despite the website advertising 5pm). Avoid this unfriendly place - especially as there are so many others to choose from. Happily the Rutland Arms was next door, and we spent a lovely few hours in their dog-friendly coffee area.
