Come for our anniversary recently and it was stunning. Stunning food and drinks. Staff lovely as well
My visit to The Botanist last Saturday was a mixed bag. While the cocktails served on the top deck were fabulous and the decor was charming, the overall experience left much to be desired. Queues at the bar on dining level were interminable, leading to a situation where I couldn't even order drinks to accompany my meal and had to settle for water provided as my food arrived. The male server seemed oblivious to the wait times, resulting in frustration among guests. Additionally, the food arrived cold, which was disappointing. Despite some highlights, the service and food quality could use improvement for a more satisfying dining experience.
Great lunch, service was amazing, our server was attentive, she was great
A beautiful restaurant with a great vibe where you can have a romantic dinner or hang out with the girls. Fantastic decor. We went there twice during our five day stay in Cardiff.
A lovely atmosphere for a meal with friends. Waitress was lovely. Only down side was portion sizes for meals were small . Couldn’t believe how tiny the rice portion was . Also the cocktails were £9-10 and ours were more ice than anything. I would eat there again but wouldn’t waste money on cocktails and would order more rice/sides
This place is absolutely stunning! Me and my partner visited as we were in Cardiff to see a gig. I love The Botanist back in Exeter so had to see this one. When we walked in we saw the sign about the terrace which stated we could take a seat and order through QR code so we headed up and got a seat in the sunshine. Service was incredibly quick it was fantastic! While sat upstairs we booked a table for the restaurant and headed down. We were greeted and taken to our table, we were seated next to a large party but that’s just something that can’t always be helped. We had a look through the menu and I had a difficult choice of which cocktail to drink! After our order was taken it didn’t take too long for the food to arrive and it looked delicious, we did then realise we only had one fork but that was a quick fix so no issues there (they were very busy and I work in the hospitality industry so I get these things). The steaks were cooked perfectly and the halloumi fries were to die for! I’m quite the fan of anything halloumi so love trying it everywhere I go and it had to be one of my favourites so far. After a very filling lunch and a few cocktails we headed back to the terrace which had filled up a bit but that made it feel more lively. This is a very long review but I was so so pleased with this place and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Thought it be better if I’m honest.
The restaurant itself is very nice and the staff seemed friendly, but the food was pretty underwhelming and forgettable and the live music was way too loud. I'd understand it being that loud if it was solely a bar but in a restaurant it's not appropriate. Me and my wife had to shout across the table to hear each other. Unfortunately these things have put us off going back.
