Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Clarendon (Virginia)

The last few times I've been at this Tatte they have messed up my order. A few weeks ago I ordered the shrimp and avocado mousse salad, and they forgot the avocado mousse (it's in the name !!). I had it remade and they forgot it again. Today, I ordered the savory french toast with extra bacon and they didn't give me extra bacon. Managers need to remind both kitchen staff and expo to double check orders, especially online ones,. The food is amazing, but it's frustrating they aren't meeting the bare minimum of getting a customer's order right.

My favorite breakfast is always going to be in Tatty If u want to try there cheese Burke be there in the morning.

It's a first come first serve popular French bakery spot in the DC area. Such a great spot for post workout food, brunch, morning meet up, lunch dates, etc. The food and pastries are incredibly good and made extremely fresh. When you have the pain au Chocolat you feel like you are at a cafe in France. Really good atmosphere overall. The only negatives; Since they try to move you out fast there are no changes whatsoever to the menu so asking to add an extra egg or removing something doesn't work AT ALL. They move incredibly fast since there are always a lot of people and they tend to miss a drink order or two at times which then is a whole other process to get resolved. Overall an incredibly quick, clean, great tasting, option for a French style bakery.

I've been here for breakfast and brunch on a couple different occasions. I kept trying different things on their menu hoping to find the "thing" they do well and discovered that it doesn't exist. All their food sounds appetizing but the actual execution of any of given dish is a disaster. They serve their breakfast cold to the table. Greasy eggs, cold toast, cold bacon. Their quiche is often dry and not served warm. Was not a fan of the egg in a bagel. Salty bagel with a runny egg and pica de gallo on top. Not appetizing. Today I had the chicken salad sandwich. It felt like it was diced chicken from a can with weirdly whipped cream with zero flavor served on bread that resembled tough leather. The chef needs to actually tastes what they serve. Because it's gross and probably not up to par with whatever vision they were going for. Also their coffee and espresso are disgusting. Tastes consistently like battery acid while also being watered down. I would rather walk across the street to Barnes and Noble and get an espresso there that actually tastes like espresso should. The only thing this place does well is ambience for a modern cafe. I also like their oatmeal cookie, but that's not enough for me to keep coming back to a place that can't get the food or beverage right.

So here it is simply put. If you want a chill place to hang out and your NOT going to eat; this place is okay. If your like me and you want a lil nosh or something more substantive, please move on, this place is not for you. Read on for more detail regarding my visit. How is this place so bad? I really wish I knew. I waited to visit this place on two separate occasions, two different days of the week during different times of the day. I really wanted to give this place a shot and sadly it didn't go well either time. My order was simple, I picked from the top of the list with no requests, changes or alterations. Just what was on the menu. I ordered the House Breakfast Plate for 10.75 and even had them add sausage for 2.00 dollars as it was an option that was listed. The food was delivered very quickly which was kind of concerning as my first question was; did they cook anything? They had no time. Anyway, the food was served by an absent minded waitress that walked away with my cutlery. I had to walk after her and ask if I could have silverware for my meal. No harm done. When I sat down and looked at the plate, this is what I saw; refer to photos. The food was cold to the touch and inedible. The eggs were covered in oil? The toast, which was really not toasted was cold as well. The sausage felt refrigerated. This being the second fail I wasn't going to try again to have them make me something that was indeed hot. This place just sucks, I tried twice so you wouldn't have to. If ya just want coffee and a place to plug in your laptop; it's okay but nothing more.
