Cool venue, very large with lots of different sections/rooms. Great place to host an event. I went for a birthday party. Our bartender was fantastic, the staff was super helpful, and the buffet was on point.
TLDR: First time visit, and was there as a support person/spectator at the State level cornhole tournament. Maybe this place is good when it’s not busy. Today, both my experience and the experience of others who were attending this event, some staff were extremely disrespectful and rude. My request to management is that the footage of our ordering timing and verbal treatment from the bar staff be reviewed. If you decide to respond to discredit this review, please provide a public link to the video of me interacting with your bar staff and let the public decide for themselves what was unhealthy communication. It was ~1:14pm. I do not recommend larger events come here without better staff structure and management support. It’s not worth it for people to be treated this way. I’d rather we had played at a park in the crummy weather and rain. Details: The bar appeared to be understaffed, and I was informed of (and 100% understanding of) long wait times. I’ve worked food service before, and I totally get it. Not a problem. Ordered a beer at the bar at around noon - only one bartender with a long line and no informative beer list available to help those in line make their decision before reaching the bar. Asked 2-3 questions about what dark beers they had, made my selection and added it to the tab. Planned on tipping well, as she was clearly stressed. Husband ordered food about an hour later, and was told the wait would be over 30 minutes. Checked back at the bar around 15-20 minutes later, and was told our food had arrived and it was at the far end of the bar on a tray. Walked to the tray, but it was somebody else’s order (different food, and they were already in the process of retrieving it). I waited patiently for a couple minutes for the bartenders to have bandwidth to recognize I was still waiting and check in. When she realized I was still waiting, she walked over and asked me what the problem was. I let her know that the food on the tray wasn’t mine, as it was different items and someone else was already picking it up, so I was just going to wait for my food. She then yelled at me for letting someone else walk off with my food. That was shocking, since it clearly wasn’t my order. Another staff person was helping that bartender by this point, and the second person asked me from the other side of the room a question about my food order. I can’t remember exactly what she asked, because at this point it has been overshadowed by the latter part of the exchange. Responded to her in a similar volume and an even tone. In what I believe was probably an act of solidarity by that second employee, I was then yelled at by her (still from the opposite side of the room) that I was being loud with my complaints(?). Bear in mind, I wasn’t complaining or blaming the bar staff for anything. I was just letting responding to her question, and let them know that the order they thought was mine was someone else’s, and I was just going to wait for my food. I then expressed my confusion at being yelled at. The initial bartender I interacted with on multiple occasions during our exchange insisted that my food not being there was my fault. 15 minutes early? I understand the stress that can occur when employees are understaffed and under supported. It seems to me that the bar staff was completely unsupported during this time when there was a planned influx of patrons for the tournament, and they were taking their stress out on customers. TBH it seems like the employees acted the way they did because they are in an environment where they are not supported. As a bartender/waitstaff, if you know management has your back and you are doing the best that you can for your patrons, your ability to provide quality customer service is still good. You manage expectations, communicate clearly, and do the best you can. Tips can be great during that kind of environment. But that’s no reason to take it out on a customer patiently waiting for their order and responding to your questions/statements neutrally with their accurate status.
I came here for a cornhole tournament. It’s a really nice space. Very spacious with a great atmosphere. The food was pretty good. The service was backed up, which is understandable given then event. I’m patient, but the servers at the bar seemed super irritated…almost angry. I got snapped at and rushed when attempting to give my order. My wife went to pickup our food and was berated by the bar staff when somebody else grabbed our order. It was upsetting. It definitely cast a shadow on an otherwise enjoyable afternoon. Unless it’s for another cornhole tournament, I won’t be back.
