I was a party of 1 so I was able to sit at the bar, typically there was a 15 min wait. However I still ended up waiting half of that time for a waitress to acknowledge me. On top of that I was constantly hearing dishes being tossed about and staff talking etc with being directly next to the kitchen. Impossible to relax. This was my first time at Sunny Street Cafe and this is the first breakfast place I have ever been to where there is no side of meat offered with the pancakes. I asked how much it was for me to order the side of bacon and it was $4.89!!!!!!!!! Outrageous. The Pancakes tasted strange, not sweet at all and there was a different waitress who brought me my plate, and then also gave me more syrup when I ran out of the cup of syrup that they provide (trying to mask the bad taste of the pancakes ) Those 2 simple gestures were better service than I received from my actual waitress the entire time. My assigned waitress came back and brought me my bill and told me to tell her when I was ready to pay, and she would come back and check me out. I asked her if I could just pay by scanning the receipt? ( as it says) She said yes so I went that route instead. I have no plans of returning to a Sunny Street Cafe.
So this restaurant likely would be fine if you order off the menu however the place turns in to a price gouge if you are on a medically restricted diet. As a low carb eater that just had a medical procedure which I could not eat for an entire day, I was super hungry but could only eat eggs and a side of non spicy meat... I ordered 6 scrambled eggs and a side of bacon and was charged twice 4.99 for 2 eggs + another 2.49 for an additional egg plus another 4.89 for bacon and 3.89 for milk … This means essentially I was charged 20 dollars for bacon and eggs ... My wife called and asked for the manager and she was unsympathetic and insisted I was charged correctly. When special diet people that cant eat carbs come in, this place does not believe in making any sort of dietary accommodations without charging the absolute max they can charge a-la-cart. A better choice for a low carb eater with big appetite would be Der Dutchman in plain city with has an all you can eat option and all the al-la-cart options are lower cost Dietary restrictions: While I will say they did not bring out items I can not eat, so the served me food on diet, this restaurant is unwilling to make an affordable meal via substitutions for items for dietary restricted customers opting to charge high prices for items on a a-la-cart basis. Other restaurants in the area are more accommodating of special needs diet customers.
Bright, clean, smaller diner with friendly staff but rather slow service. We went here for breakfast about 10:30 a.m. It took about 15 mins to get coffee and another 10 to get some creamer. My order of spinach/avocado eggs Benedict was delicious and my husband liked his homemade corned beef hash. We also split a pancake, which was okay. They make delicious hash browns but we waited 20 mins for ketchup, which is served in individual ramekins. If you have plenty of time, by all means, give Sunny Street Cafe a try. But if you're in a hurry, I'd save them for another time. Vegetarian options: No problem finding vegetarian options to choose from Parking: Located in a huge shopping center. Parking is no problem ever. Wheelchair accessibility: Flat parking lot with low curb access to this ground floor restaurant.
Pancakes are really good!
Ordered a Sunny Skillet and it was huge and the flavor combination was perfect. Great morning meal.
This place was great! Wonderful service all the ladies were nice, even though busy, the food was fantastic and up rather fast. The chicken and waffles were great! And the Sunny's hot sauce with it was awesome! Can't wait to visit again! Hubby got the chorizo breakfast burrito with hashbrowns with cheese and onion, was really good too! Kid-friendliness: Family friendly atmosphere and menu
Excellent breakfast spot!
I went with my family for brunch today and we had a great time. We thought we would had to wait in line, but we didn’t; the place was busy, but it is bigger than it seems and there was a table available right away. We liked the Fall decoration and the coziness; we immediately fell comfortable. The service was very efficient and kind; my parents, who are visiting from Colombia, were able to talk in Spanish with several people from the staff. They are efficient and friendly. All the food we ordered was delicious. I rarely order a breakfast skillet because it is usually greasy, but I followed Dolores’ recommendation and I really liked it. My husband makes great biscuits and gravy, so he doesn’t usually order it because it’s usually a disappointment, but he really liked this one. We tried two smoothies and were delicious; real fruit and not too sweet. My favorite was the Spinach, Banana, and Pineapple. We were also very pleased with the hot sauce, made in house, please try it if you like to add spicy to your food! We will definitely come back, and we are grateful for such a nice family brunch in this rainy, autumn day. We highly recommend it. A good meal makes any day sunny ☀️.
Cute little breakfast place. Busy. Food was average. Service was fast. Pancakes were ok but not amazing.
