London's largest 4 day music festival since 1995. Top quality World Music on 5 stages. Over 35 national and international artists, often up and coming future world music stars. Well loved fest, always free for everyone. Many musicians call this the best music festival in Canada. People visit from away. High energy, busy time! Cool summer vibez!
SUNFEST HAS BECOME THE MOST VALUED ANNUAL SOCIAL EVENT HELD IN LONDON. This show is so successful that it has run out of room. It would be better on the Western Fairgrounds. Room for more vendors and no trees to worry about when you set up your tent. Lots of parking. No worries about getting stuck and tearing up the grass. Let all the trees grow naturally and let people enjoy that. And move all the festivals to WFD and make everybody happy. No more dealing with PARKING TO GET PERMITS. It would save City Hall money with having not to deal with all the thinking involved ... dealing with staff to work weekends. THE City can set up buses to Express downtown locations to Western Fair District. Victoria Park can still hold smaller events that do not have to worry about reworking their vendors every year to keep from getting fined for touching growing branches with tents. Having read other reviews has indicated duplication and boring sameness. Thus is problem with any show.
Craft and Food Vendors provide the entire "park" with an experience for visitors. They shouldn't have to pay hundreds to be a vendor. There needs to be support for local startups, or even youth/teen businesses. The diversity of vendor seldom changes. You can expect the same, overdone, line up. Can we have support for #localsmallbusinesses? ONE section of the park dedicated to supporting local startups? Free of charge to vend. Local businesses can NOT afford to vend at their own local festivals. This needs to be addressed. 4 12 hour days, some vendors travel and have to pay out of pocket for hotels, food etc. To only maybe break"even". MAYBE. The cost to vend, we may as well be "sponsors" of the event itself, with some advertising perks. Maybe even a food voucher, and water provided. But setup your own tent, and pay for parking, and sit in the heat, with their families or friends to assist them. *edit more added: 08/03/2023 Why this was 10 years ago, I haven't been able to return. Costs now have soared in comparison. Have an analysis of all who vend. Most walk away still in debt. After C19 there were no incentives to vendors. Craft vs food is also a conversation on its own. Yes, marketing opportunity. No, to actual sales. Some craft vendors have expressed these sentiments. Smaller businesses and startup companies should be charged on a tier system. Some of us only are 1to 2 running a business, with smaller inventory than others. All I am saying, the systems behind how to fund, can change. Why not ask your bronze level sponsors to sponsor a booth? Then vendors could apply to be sponsored, and have a sign for their company inside or outside their tent? Vendor gets subsidized, everyone is happy. Just some further ideas could be challenged to make vending enjoyable and semi-profitable for all. It's not about the little guys anymore.
