St. Elsewhere

I was very excited to see a new vegan restaurant pop up in Ottawa, and I wasn't disappointed with my experience at St. Elsewhere. The atmosphere is casual-chic and the interior is well-decorated. The menu is small but versatile, with creative twists on wholesome plant-based ingredients. In terms of the small plates, I've tried the kale salad (16$) and the blooming onion (14$). The kale salad was good but quite ordinary and lacking in the promised sausage crumbles, while the blooming onion was perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. For the main dish, I highly recommend the gnocchi with sausage and almond ricotta (26$) - the gnocchis are pillowy and soft, the almond ricotta is creamy and tangy, and the kombu sauce is quite unique. I've also had the udon carbonara (26$), which was also delicious but I prefer the gnocchi. The portion sizes are decent; they will leave you satisfied but not overly stuffed. The dishes are a bit on the pricier side but I enjoyed the upscale vegan dining experience, which is hard to come across in Ottawa.

As a group of 4, we had a truly fantastic meal at St. Elsewhere. Two of us had the gnocchi and two had the carbonara and we all really enjoyed it, especially the richness and flavours that came through with the dishes. The desserts were also excellent and as Brits, we thought the sticky toffee puddings were really up to scratch. The cocktails are great, the ambience is cosy, but fun and the service is really wonderful and thoughtful. Best plant-based meals in the city! Vegetarian options: Everything is plant-based.

Delicious vegan spot! My friend & I went for the first time a few weeks ago & we loved the aesthetic of the place. Their menu is entirely vegan & shareable with others, whether you get the small or big plates. My friend & I decided to order 3 big plates & share them. We ordered the carbonara, gnocchi, & risotto. The carbonara was my favourite! The staff members were extremely friendly & helpful. Will definitely be back to experience more of the wine bar. Vegetarian options: Entirely vegan! Kid-friendliness: Family-friendly.

The restaurant offered great food, a great atmosphere, and generally good service. However, a significant issue arose when I received the bill: the prices listed on the paper menu were outdated. When I brought this to the server's attention, I felt I had overpaid, but the server showed little empathy and merely mentioned that they probably hadn't updated the menu.

I came to St. Elsewhere with a group of five women for our book club lunch meeting. We sat in a beautiful and comfortable round corner booth. Not everyone in our group is vegan but everyone was raving about their meal! We each loved our cocktails too. Service was 10/10, dishes came out quickly, and the atmosphere and art are all very beautiful! Lastly, it’s not overpriced which I obviously appreciate. I’ll be back! :)

What a find!!! The environment was fun - jewel toned theme and we were in the front part with all the windows. The food turned out to be out of this world. I had the “pulled pork” with jackfruit and a blueberry BBQ sauce topped with what I’d call some shredded fermented veg; the flavours came together like a symphony! I brought risotto home for my partner and that was also delicious (it travels well for takeout too). I tried a bit of gnocchi - it was delicious but I’m glad our server prepared us for the texture. Lastly we shared a cashew cheesecake that surprised us with pieces of brittle on top. I can’t wait to try more! Vegetarian options: I believe the entire menu is vegan
