In 1779, two survey parties set out to establish the western frontier line between Virginia and North Carolina, near what is now downtown Bristol, Virginia. A disagreement over the border ensued and lasted for 25 years, creating a lawless region known as the Squabble State. This is the inspiration for Squabble State Farms, an agritourism destination located only three miles from the Bristol Hard Rock Hotel & Casino featuring an apple orchard, hard cidery, distillery, nature trails and scenic views for miles.
