South Block - Ballston

I've constantly heard good things about this place so my experience was a bit surprising. First of all, the prices are too high for what this place offers. I can make smoothies and smoothie bowls at home for cheaper using the exact same ingredients. Not only that, but it would be more convenient seeing as it can take 10 or more minutes to receive your order. That all being said, the flavors were good but I really just can't justify returning or recommending this place to anyone.

I was excited after a long day of work to enjoy a bowl from my favorite smoothie place, but was very disappointed when after taking my first bite, to find out something was very off about this bowl. It was so sour and the coloring was off, so I realized they must have forgotten the acai. The person who made my bowl had straight hair with blonde highlights and I came this evening.

I have become the thing I hated most - a yuppie who eats $15 smoothie bowls. sigh. that said, South Block is basically the gold standard of smoothie bowls. it consistently tastes great and service is quick. ingredients are fresh, and the entire place is immaculately clean. a little pricey but pretty on par for smoothie bowls and Arlington in general. I've never gotten anything other than a smoothie bowl - their fresh pressed juices look delicious and exorbitantly expensive. -1 star because you order on an ipad and it still asks for a tip. like, you have to awkwardly click through to avoid tipping the IPAD. tip gouging is becoming an epidemic and it's hella annoying. South block is great! Very convenient to pickup after ordering online, and is a great healthy option to help your body refuel.
