All staff were welcoming and not interfering, the atmosphere and music was just right and the menu choice was interesting with top quality ingredients. They made drink recommendations and let us sample before choosing. Will definitely return and have already recommended to many friends. Dietary restrictions: They dealt with a difficult dietary intolerance impeccably, fully prepared and understood the needs. They even prepared a dessert not on the menu on a pay if you like offering.
I was so busy eating and enjoying my food I forgot to take pics - that is an excellent sign! We had the tasting menu which was excellent value at £60 each. I substituted two of the fish dishes with vegetarian options and they were both astounding. Delicious from start to finish!
Visited last night to try out the tasting menu. The place itself is lovely inside, really nice atmosphere and music. We ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairing, which was matched beautifully. We really enjoyed the food itself. However, we felt so rushed between courses. We weren't given enough time to finish our drink before our next drink and course was being given to us. I had to ask to have a break between courses because we hadn't been given one. We felt the waiting staff weren’t interested in providing an experience and didn’t give us any extra information about the tasting menu itself. It was a shame considering how much we paid for the experience. Unfortunately, I don't think I would visit again as the customer service spoiled the whole experience.
We were gifted a voucher for a tasting menu with drinks and visited Shears Yard this week. After a warm welcome, the menu and drinks were explained to us. Courses arrived in a leisurely manner. Each course - bread, soup, starter, fish, main, pudding - was delicious. Each course had innovative additions and flavour combinations that worked brilliantly. Each course was generously portioned (in comparison to other tasting menus we have had) and very well presented. We had a great meal in very pleasant surroundings.
A lovely roast beef dinner
Our overall experience on the night was fair to good - the food was a bit patchy but well presented and the staff were all friendly enough in a nice setting. 24 hours later however, all five of our party had some level of food poisoning ranging from sore belly and fatigue to violent vomiting and diarrhoea. I contacted the restaurant to let them know and was pretty much told that they were sorry we were all suffering but that they accepted no responsibility, showing a disappointingly low level of accountability and customer care.
Great place for a party night out with better than average food, not my top choice for a gastronomic experience (especially if you are a vegetarian). The drinks menu also didn't offer any non alcoholic options, which I find slightly rediculous. Vegetarian options: Main on the vegetarian option was very off. The meat had been replaced by satan that looked like spam sliced straight from the can and didn't taste much better.
