Best salmon chowder on the island!

Fish and chips is great, nice batter on the halibut and good fries. Second weekend in a row we had a successful meal on the beach.

The view and the beer are a pairing you can't resist! Food is great too Dietary restrictions: Friendly to dairy sensitive people

Not only the view is mesmerizing but the food is delicious. This place has become one of our favourite stops on the entire Vancouver Island.

Food was really great. I had the Ahi Tuna and it was delicious, loved the little salad on the side... it paired well. I also got the beef dip and that was top notch, too. I loved conversation with the regulars and felt very welcomed at the Shady Rest. Also, the view of the ocean where we spread Dad's ashes was super comforting as well. 5 stars all around Shady Guys!

Have to say, food and service were just ok, views out on the beach and strait were awesome

Have been here many times over the years because it was so good. Unfortunately, it has declined in recent times. Ordered the halibut fish & chips. The small serving of chips was cold, just a tiny spoonful of coleslaw so not good value. Fish itself was excellent. Server did not ask about our meal until we were finished. Fortunately, we expressed our disappointment and the bill was adjusted. There are a few “seafood” items on menu but I would not call it a seafood restaurant. No shellfish on menu, although on the way out, noticed a lady enjoying a big bowl of clams!
