Cracking bookshop. Tons of great books all well sectioned and ordered. Kids love it. Haven’t tried the coffee shop but it seems very popular.
The eye-catching display of books in the window caught my attention, so went in to have a look. Great selection of used books in many categories. Has both hardback and paperbacks to choose from. I got 2 Ian Rankin books at £1 each, including his newest one which was on sale at Waterstones for a tenner. If I still lived here, I'd use this place like a library, read, return and buy something else to read to support this charity. I didn't have time to try the cakes, but they look great. If I have time this week, I'm paying another visit.
I always.try and drop in to to the seagull , first thing get a nice coffee , then see what cakes are there to tickle your taste buds , as well as lovely old books , there is of coarse the works of art adorned around the walls , art at an affordable price. That allow the.public to get their hands on art there and then. To top it of quirky tea pots and tea.cosy.
Decent coffee. Great toasties and a good atmosphere. Very helpful and polite staff. Would recommend.
Absolutely diabolical disgustingly rude staff and also an extremely rude customer who thought she was something special. Myself and another 2 ladies walked out of there today, I will never be back , We were being talked about nastily by the staff on walking out, am most upset. REPLY TO COMMENT FROM OWNER JUST TO REPLY TO THE OWNER'S COMMENT,, BECAUSE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR NOT CLOSING PROPERLY AND AS I WAS SITTING NEXT TO IT, WHEN 3 WOMEN ENTERED AND THE DOOR STAYED WIDE OPEN I POLITELY ASKED ONE OF THEM IF SHE COULD PLEASE CLOSE THE DOOR, SHE LOOKED DOWN HER NOSE AND COMPLETELY IGNORED ME WHILE UNDOING HER COAT, THEN SAID THAT SHE WAS IN EVERY DAY AND ALWAYS CLOSED THE DOOR, HER TONE WAS RUDE LIKE SHE HAD SOME PRIVILEGE OR RIGHT TO TALK TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER IN THAT WAY. THE DOOR EVENTUALLY PARTLY CLOSED. TO ACCOMMODATE THOSE PEOPLE THE OWNER LOOKED AT TABLE BESIDE ME SO I SAID IF THOSE NASTY PEOPLE WERE SAT NEXT TO ME THAT I WOULD LEAVE. HOWEVER SHE EXPLAINED THAT SHE WAS ASKING ANOTHER LONE WOMAN TO MOVE TO IT, WHICH SHE DID AND QUITE RIGHTLY THE WOMAN WALKED OUT. THEN AFTER HAVING ATE MY CAKE AND TIME ALMOST UP ON MY CAR PARKING, (20MINUTES) LATER I STILL HAD NOT RECEIVED MY COFFEE, INSTEAD OF SAYING SORRY FOR DELAY, OR IT WON'T BE LONG, (5 TABLES, MAINLY COFFEE AND CAKE,) I WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED, A GRUNT FROM THE BOY WHEN I ASKED IF IT BE MUCH LONGER. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS, IF YOUR FACE FITS AND YOU PRAISE THE OWNER ITS FINE BUT DARE TO SAY YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HAPPY THEN ITS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY. I HAD HAD ENOUGH AND GOT MONEY BACK FOR THE COFFEE AND ALSO WALKED OUT. A COUPLE ALSO WITNESSED ALL OF THIS AND SAID HOW NASTY THE CUSTOMER HAD BEEN TO ME AND THAT THE STAFF WERE SO SLOW AND OWNER RUDE. DO NOT GIVE YOUR FAKE " MERRY CHRISTMAS" BECAUSE YOU ARE JUST PROVING HOW FAKE AND SARCASTIC YOU REALLY ARE. AN ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE THAT CAUSED ME UPSET FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. I WORKED IN WAITRESSING FOR YEARS IN MY YOUNGER DAYS AND I KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT CORRECT TO TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. YOU WERE ALSO ALL TALKING NASTILY ABOUT ME WHEN I LEFT, REALLY!!!!. SO I WAS WRONGED BUT YOU TREATED ME AS IF I WAS THE ONE IN THE WRONG. NASTY .
