I don’t write reviews often, but I’m sad at the decline in service and food at Sasso. We used to come here a fair amount as they had really good pizza and appetisers, but for the last two times we’ve been really disappointed. This time, we ordered two pizzas, and calamari, and asked for them all to come out together. The calamari came first, but the pizzas then took an age to come. Like 30 mins after the calamari. When I asked where they were, the waiter said they had a table of 8 in so there was a delay. However, there were two waiters on shift, and only four tables were taken in the restaurant so I personally don’t think this should have been an issue! When the pizzas finally arrived, they were burned around the edges, one was incredibly salty, to the point we could not eat more than a slice. When raising this with the staff, we asked the chef to try a slice himself, they were not interested. No offer to take it off the bill or discount it either… which we would never ask for but still would have kinda expected a discount considering we were unable to eat the whole pizza. The attitude of the waiter, considering he is the owners son, was really poor and the food standards seem to have dropped, so we won’t be going back again.

We heard this restaurant was related somehow to the ownership of La Piazza Allegra downtown which was our absolutely favorite restaurant in Hamilton. (they are since closed) So when we heard kids eat free week was on we made it our destination. The food was good, especially liked the pizzas. Not the same caliber food as La Piazza Allegra but that's ok. It's not fine dining, your using paper napkins with sports on the TVs. Our only gripe was the false advertising for kids eat free. THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THIS and told us it is only for lunch. But their were signs all over the restaurant that don't stipulate this at all so this was intended to mislead and I take issue with that since I dragged my kid here hoping for some value. Kids don't like this kind of food but my wife and I do and would not have come with our child if the marketing had been clear. We pointed out the misleading ad but it was still not honored. So anyway, good place to come if your in the area for lunch, I would not make this a destination place again. And I would be skeptical of their marketing. I am missing La Piazza Allegra though, wish that place had not closed down. We were there all the time.

Service was decent, just wasn't impressed by the response of our waitress to my complaint. The pizza was quite good, not $21 good, but good. The chopped panini was dreadful. It was drenched in a super acidic, vinigary sub sauce that overwhelmed my mouth. I could barely eat half with how acidic it was. A sandwich supposedly "served crispy" was served soggy and dripping vinegar. When the waitress saw my uneaten food (apart from some fries and the salad, both of which were decent), I politely voiced my complaints and was met with "yeah the cured meats can be really acidic" that just isnt true. Their salt should balance out the acidity of the sauce. No offer was made to compensate for a $20 dish being inedible, instead a comment of "I'll mention that to the kitchen" which I doubt she even did, but even if she did does nothing for me. If you want to eat here, dont get that sandwich and be prepared to overpay for the quality of food.

A friend and I sat at the bar and enjoyed a bottle of wine and dinner. The bartender, I think her name was Jen, was fantastic!

Stopped in for a late lunch. Ordered the PePeR G’s pizza. The pizza, although it had a nice taste, was either not cooked enough or not made properly. When I picked up a slice, it just flopped and all the toppings came off. Had to eat it with knife and fork. Service was good, but very disappointed in the pizza.
