This Safeway is the worst out of all the days and I'm not saying this away all due to the customers, location, or the homeless. What really left the bad taste in my mouth was the employees; they are very rude and judgemental, unprofessional, and lacking kindness towards our community, as well as empathy towards our public. I work with the public as well, and one thing that I have learned over the years with working with the crowd and community of all different walks of life with homeless included is that you have to have strong boundaries of course but with a delivery that still shows others that toy still respect them. Dont judge a book by its cover, shoot sometimes I look like complete hell and this Broadway store especially will make me feel like I don't belong and make me feel so uncomfortable that I don't even want to buy anything but I have a paycheck in my pocket and ready to drop a few hundred at the store. I've also learned to treat others with respect no matter what and to show all walks of life empathy, everyone is someone's dad, brother, son, mom, sister, daughter, friend, family, etc... and to lastly be the change that I wish to see in the community. If I notice that my customers are showing displays of behaviours that are troublesome and unwanted I look for ways to reach those certain individuals in a way that can either help them and give them room to do better. Instead of being rude, unprofessional, and degrading people as I have seen the employees of Safeway treat many people, including those that dont deserve that uncalled for treatment. Especially with employees that work with the public, and with employees that are on the clock I've seen disgusting behavior that is extremely unprofessional. I mean I get that these employees may be just done with the public, and have taken losses at the store, but ultimately at the end of the day there is no need for any employee AT ALL EVVVEEERRRR to engage in unprofessional behaviors, cursing at customers, or should lower themselves to a level of embarrassment that is doing no justice for the company or your customers. To sum it all up, I will never use this safeway again after I witnessed what I did last week with this young girl that is probably 100 pounds soak and wet and was chased out of the store so aggressively by 4 grown men while following and degrading her as pushing her out of the store. Now it's none of my concern what that young girl did, but I'm sure the manager of the store as well as the 4 grown men went way above and beyond of what really could have been done that would have been enough to handle the issue. As well as the inappropriate degrading language and chosen words that were spoken and yelled at that poor individual. This store was alright, it was clean and never had an issue with any food, always was happy with choices and the selection. But I would consider taking away the employees. Those I could do without. 1 Star.... I only go to the safeway on 128th now, they show amazing respect, and grace with any delivery given to what may be nuisance of customers. As well as create a positive environment yet still despite some troubles for the rest of the shoppers; this will be the Safeway I will return my business too. They know how to treat the public of all walks of life and how to cope and manage any obstacle customers. Broadway store, take some lessons from those employees. Or if you just dont like your job or working with the public, then quit and get a different job and career.... no one forced you to have this job or make you come to work.
First impression: This store smells real bad. The smell of urine hits ya at the front door; as you walk towards the middle of the store, the smell starts to disappear. The good: The bakery staff was very nice and helpful. The not-so awesome: The deli staff was plenty, but they seemed tired and burnt out. Plus, the products that lined the outside of the deli cases had expired. *Dear Safeway Corporate, Do better. Take some time and the money YOU take and make, and upgrade the care for consumers; you can do so by caring more for the associates and the stores, especially this store.
