Went here for breakfast/lunch. Overall, the food is nothing fancy but is good for the price! Only concern is that we left smelling like fried oil. I wonder if maybe the exhaust hood over their deep fryer is not working. Other than that, it is a nice little spot
Quick, delicious and inexpensive. A hidden gem. I’m obsessed with the gumbo—a rich dark roux for the base and no okra as it should be! The voodoo egg rolls and sauce are another favorite too.
The voodoo egg rolls were amazing
I had the chicken and sausage gumbo and it was fantastic. This was a true N.O. gumbo, not a gloppy, tomato-y dish you often find this far north but a buttery, flavorful, and delicious stew. I would have enjoyed a few baguette slices or cornbread along with it but it no matter, it was a hearty dinner at a very reasonable price. Rue Barre is a real spiritual successor to N.O. Takeout that focuses on quick delicious takeout.
Great atmosphere! The sampler was delicious! I got 2, and it fed 4 people. We all loved it! Highly recommend!
We had heard the ad for Rue Bourre on the radio, so we gave it a try. No regrets! The shrimp and grits, VooDoo rolls, Beignets and the biscuits & gravy were all good. Our favorites were the VooDoo rolls and Beignets. The coffee had a chicory addition, which I liked, however another in our party did not. We would definitely come again.
Food was awesome and service was really awesome!! Very friendly and hospitable service! I recommend the Voodoo Egg Rolls!!!
We stopped in for a beignet and coffee at 3:30 p.m We had a New Orleans experience as the coffee was strong and the beignet was sweet, hot, powdery, and baked perfectly. The owner is from New Orleans and knows real Cajun food. We look forward to eating the other dishes sometime..
The food was so yummy! Would highly recommend.
